Snoctony is a long time seller on ebay. That diode is 9 mm not a 5.6 mm.
500 mW is OK but won't fit many housings. 0.500 Watts is a basic pump diode.

Depending on your eyes 808 woulldn't be totally invisible in some conditions, it's not too far off 780nm

regardless of how it LOOKS, its how it doesnt look that you should be concerned about. After all, it IS 500mW even if looks like a 1mW red.

Its a low powered pump, you could make it into a nice high powered IR laser but they diverge quickly and are only used for burning really. You probably wont be seeing much light come from this diode by itself.
