Yeah, I'd rather the host look like something from WL. But in all honesty, it doesn't matter to me much as long as the diode functions well.(and it does)

I was very close to buying that "Thor" laser that's on eBay because the beam is similar, and the host is good looking. After seeing another member here do a review on it, and seeing the burnt plastic part, I feel like I dodged a bullet. At least this particular laser I have is made completely of metal(minus the power button) and has thus far been very durable. I can honestly say that I'd recommend it to somebody.

watch the double posting and why risk buying a junk laser??

I don't consider the one I bought to be junk. I've enjoyed it quite a bit since I've bought it, and it's pretty powerful.

A lasers value is the use and enjoyment you get out of it.

Hec, I had tons of fun with a cheap $8 5mW 650 I bought a few years back and used the finger & arrow lenses to mess around in class with it haha! Years later, I got a $400 473 laser pointer and didn't get the same thrill out of it even though it's a much more valuable item.

If you enjoy what you bought, who cares?!? Have fun with it :)

I couldn't agree more with you! I guess the way I wrote it, it just came out wrong lol what I meant was, just be cautious with those cheap ebay lasers. I've seen and heard to many bad stories about them. Also I've recently found out that 98%,of those 1.6w 450's are mass produced diodes and that's why theyre so cheap.. I bought a few of them from my brothers coworker.. :) what ever makes ya happy is all that matters..

Not a problem haha. Yeah, I've seen my fair share of eBay horror stories as well which is why I try to stay clear of those lasers(especially the 532 DPSS). I bought a 405 from a seller a few months ago and it was actually pretty good! Beam was easily visible on a dark room and made some neat fluorescence tricks :D

In the end, it's your money and nobody else's. Sure, take some opinions and advice from others, but only yourself know what you like and don't like.
