I feel ya on being afraid of it. I rarely touch mine. It's just too much power, the same goes for my 532...

Still, good job on the build! I certainly couldn't do that myself :p

Thank you ZRaffleticket.
Do you have a budget recommendation for safety glasses for the 532? I have a 200mW 532 that I never used because I still need to get glasses for the IR part of the output.

Well I use the eagle pair goggles that always get advertised here.

Your DIY work is good enough that you can always just install the IR filter in the laser and get away with non-IR blocking goggles. Doesn't take much, even I could do it ;)

Thanks ZRaffleticket. I've seen those mentioned quite a bit, but I thought IR was around 800nm. I take it they are adequate though. I have a lot more reading to do before I ask questions.

My DIY knowledge doesn't extend to optics. The IR filter idea sounds good. I thought I read somewhere that they reduce burning power, but like I said, I have lot more reading to do before I ask more questions.

I'll check into both options. Thanks Z.

Whoops, linked the wrong pair.

These ones

The IR filter is a flat pane that gets installed right before the aperture. You won't lose much visible power, but you will lose most IR power.

Wait till you own a 3Watter, Im still stoked that I have one. Everytime I use it it's pure joy and scary as hell. I never use my lasers with stupids arround too so you watch out for that aswell :D Good laser you made there! Have fun and protect the seeing balls!!!

Ah, Thanks Z. It would be nice to have one high quality pair that covers most/all lasers. I sense in my future that my wallet will become $60 lighter (Actually $120, got to protect my wife's balls too).
