It shouldn't if your Driver function correctly ...

Here is the Circuit of the Dummy load I use for my Builds

Looks like this soldered I used a switch to test red and blue Diodes with one Circuit

Why do you say ill get a small duty cycle? If so I'm going to add miniature fans for better cooling to see if it helps.

I now have everything in and am installing the driver into its heat sink, however I ordered arctic silver 5 thinking it would keep the driver stuck to the heat sink but I think I should have purchased the arctic silver thermal adhesive instead.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Depending on the current the diode get's hot very fast ...
Without a big heat sink small duty cycles are pretty normal !

Here are the completed images with it running at 650ma, I have an upgraded 3a driver and lens on their way!

Video soon with the upgrades!
Again the cycle time so far is just a guess, however with the extremely large driver heat sink its not an issue; I can keep it on for minutes with hardly any noticeable heat, but I'm sure there will be a noted difference when I crank the amperage 4x as much as now.

Update:
I installed the new driver set at 1.5a, it worked great for a while but eventually killed the diode. My wife says the newer version with the bigger driver looks like crap compared to what it was before the "upgrade". I completely agree with her though, I will post before and after photos eventually.

I have a new diode on order (my tax return gift lol) and will probably run it at 1.2a to complete the project.

By the way my current diode still has correct polarity, it shows high resistance from pos to neg and low resistance from neg-pos. it just doesn't have any visible light. Maybe it's operating in the 808+ range now?
