Found some 3W 425nm pointers on AliExpress and got thinking what could be the diode used on them.
Them I found a cheap GH04I01A2G and decided to try over-current it as I think this may be the diode, calculated about 1.5A for the 3W and gave a try! No issues so far!
I really liked how the 420nm build turned out, so this was built into another Convoy T3, on brass this time! Now I have purple twins
Again I reduced a DTR 20mm copper module to 18mm, modded the convoy 6v 2a driver to 1.5a with a 25 milliohms shunt, some body adjustments and thermal compound to transfer heat a little better to the brass head.
The driver is capable of driving the LD at 1A and 1.5A, at lower power the color it’s definitely purple very similar to my 420nm but at 1.5A the color drastically shift to blue!
Color shifting lasers are amazing additions to the collection.
I will take beam shots and spectro reading later
