For instance. When I shine the laser on my wall, its violet colored. But when I shine it on a white t-shirt, it actually glows, or turns, a bright blue.

Fluorescing is a violet lasers specialty. So many different object fluoresce different colors. As another example, if you check my First Impressions thread that has pics, one of them is my shining my laser on a Tide bottle, which it glows a bright orange-red color.

Think of a violet 405nm laser as a concentrated blacklight. Things that 'glow' under a blacklight, would have the same effects with the violets.

Does that mean that violet beams become very visible as soon as fog or smoke is introduced? Becuase it might flouresce with the particles in the air?

Well, I don't think fog or smoke would make it fluoresce unless there was something in the smoke/fog that would react to the deep violets UV type light. And if thats the case, it would look quite neat.

The beam will become visible in regular fog or smoke though. In its violet form. In fact my 25mW's beam can easily be seen after my eyes are night vision adapted. Like if I sit in a dark room for a few mins, then turn on the laser, the beam can be seen quite well.
