405nm recommendations

I like the look of the 303 host better, but both are pretty much the same. Also, looking at the expected delivery date, you could be waiting until the end of June for the other laser to get to you :yh:

I have bought a few cheap 405's from O-like and ebay between 100Mw-250mW. They are all pretty lack luster due. For me 405's don't start floating my boat until they get over 500-800mW's. Its just too dark of a wl to be very visible and I'm not much into burning stuff. I'm looking at Sanwu's Challenger II series 405 as my next purple handheld.

Don't buy one of those 303 style 405 nm lasers. I got one of those to check it out and they don't even put a strain relief under the driver board, so every time you click the button it's bending the diode pins. The most absolutely cheap crap.

Both are kind of a crapshoot, but personally I had better luck with the 303 style hosts, despite the button issue. I ended up just putting in some packing foam under and around the driver for a bit of extra support.

Given the price... get both?

Good to know. I could fashion a shim. However did it perform well enough?

My red 301 does the same thing

As the others have said, the 303 is a piece of junk. The 305 (first one) will serve you much better and much longer; it also has a clicky switch, which I much prefer to momentary buttons.
