405nm Diode question

Hello,

I'll be expanding into the 405nm next, I just do not know what output I want yet. So far I have only been able to find 100mW and 200mW diodes. Does anyone know where there are higher rated diodes available for purchase?

Also, how different are the 200mW and 100mW diodes in terms of beam visibility? It's a large price jump from the 100mW to 200mW, so is it worth it?

Thank you for any help!!

405 is not that visible to begin so the visible difference won't be huge but with the doubling in power burning will be better. Yes there are 12X diodes like the S06J that will do 450-500mW+ with a three element lens and 650-700mW+ with a G-1/G-2.

Do you sell these S06J diodes?
Edit: Just took a look at your sales site and found them :D

Thanks for the fast response DTR - I'll probably be ordering one of those diodes from you soon! ;)

I know the G-1 lens has a single layer coating and the G-2 a double layer. Is there any reason to pick one over the other? Do you sell the 405-G-2 lens by itself?

I've also noticed that there are two sets of lenses in the aixiz lens module. I'm not sure how to even get the second one out lol, but wouldn't you still be limited by the performance of the other lens?

edit: Polonium, he has a google store here: https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/home/diodes

They both are single element lenses but they have slightly different coatings. Both perform about the same.;)

I am not sure what you mean on the Aixiz module can you post a picture. You are not talking about the multiple elements in the three element lenses AKA Aixiz lens?

I figured out how to get the other piece out. Just give the piece a tap lol. So are they all two piece lenses then?

Yes it is actually three pieces as the big one is two elements kind of glued together. Why did you need to disassemble the lens? Was it dirty?

I didn't realize there were two lenses before (but makes sense now). I merely was seeing how to take the lenses out.

I found the G-1 and G-2 for 405 on Creative Technology - 405-G1 & 405-G-2 Lens Page Creative Technology - Your source for diode lasers and laser modules at green, red and other wavelengths. for just $25, so why is your price $45?

That is just the bare glass element. If you are good with a lathe you could make a custom threaded retainer for it. The ones I offer are already in a threaded barrel.;)

Wouldn't the glass element fit inside of that housing though? Or are they different sizes?

You don't want to use the three element lens holder as it was not designed to hold a lens of that size. The single element is a larger diameter than those lens elements in the picture.

ok... I'll take your word on it although I dont see how they could be that much bigger and still have it fit into an aixiz module ;)

thx

Yep when you look in the barrel you will see the width of the threads on the retaining ring are wider than the hole that the elements go in and that hole is preciosity the right diameter for those elements. There does not seem to be any real standardization in lenses. The G-1 and G-2 are very slightly different and the G-1's don't center correctly in the retainers I use. You can try it with the lens sitting in the back held in by that retaining ring but the v shape of the walls makes it impossible to center it and you will end up with a crooked beam.

I actually just had an order right before yours that took all of what I had in hand and I was in the process of updating the site to a preorder status when you ordered. The next batch should be here Monday. Are you good with waiting till early next week? If not I can refund you. Sorry for the confusion.:yabbem:
