These diodes and this wavelength have been discussed quite a lot...for good reason. They cover a great part of the visible sepctrum, and it seems that they are almost all unique; well, at least they are unique enough to compare as I have done here.

4 of the 'same' diodes (Sharp 490nm GH04850B2G). I only have had 1 specro'd (TY ZRaffleTicket and Paul!), and it was just under 488nm.

From left to right:
487.6nm, from ZRraffleTicket; 1x14500 host by Lifetime
Unspectro'd "490nm", from DTR; 1x11440 Stainless flashlight
Unspectro'd "490nm", from techhood; 12v labby
Unspectrod' "490nm", from techhood; 1x18650 C6

The 1st 3 are about equal in power output. Somewhere between 45 and 55 mW. The 4th is closer to 100 mW.

Interesting to see how different they look, I wonder if they bin the ones that are within a certain range for medical research and whatnot ?

These diodes run anywhere from 486nm to 492nm. This is a very unique part of the visible wavelength as they can look blue to blue/green and all within just 6nm. The lowest ones are about 20% which make up pure blue. I still have just one low one in my stock for that rainy day. Nice job showing the difference, but you need to see them in person to see how truly different they are.

Good photos showing the difference, I might have to get a low wavelength one at some point.

+rep when I can

These are beautiful Lew.
It reminds me of the classic movie 'Tron' for some reason.
Love your setup too.

Great work mate.
