And I would definitely order something from the shipper in the future as it was expected :P. Thanks for sending me the FREE dead diodes for sizing purposes daguin! Ill have to buy something from you one day for sure.

The 445nm diodes were dead and it really didn't matter so they were sent in a regular envelope with a bunch of folded paper to try and protect a little for minimal shipping costs. 3 of the 4 made it but one fell out. You could see right through the paper where the 1 diode fell out and the other 3 were close to falling out. It looks like the sorting machines didn't really like the lumpy mail :). Kind of funny seeing the envelope. I will post a pic when I get a chance tonight.

I received them awhile ago and forgot to thank you for them!! Doh!
:thanks::beer:

I wonder what the postal worker who found the MIA diode in the machine thought :whistle:

Peace,

probably:

hrm.. another expensive looking piece of random electronics.. **toss out**

I could imagine the technician getting called and what I would had said to the operator. :D

I am sure they are confused by that mysterious marking shaped like a square on the back of the diode.

It'd be an interesting one if a technician came along... "so if the laser dropped out, how come this sorting unit can still scan barcodes?"

I suppose the average postal worker would think more like "Meh, odd looking nut/bolt, toss in the bin..."

Yes, the first thing you ask the operator "Ok, what does it normally do, and what does it do now."

I trust them on operating it, but are careful with their suggestions for fault finding. :D

I can suddenly imagine 445nm 1 watt barcode scanners.. scorch the black parts of the barcode? :)
