Hi guys, I am interested in using a 1W 445nm diode from Modwerx with an Lm317 driver circuit. The thing is I wanted to use a NE555 to cause the laser to pulse, and from a portable source such as a Li-ion cell pack. (so it can be mounted inside gun case)

Do any of you have or could make me a circuit diagram for this function? I apologise if I come across as lazy, to be honest it has just been a very long time since I looked at circuitry..

Thankyou in advance :)

I would suggest you get a current limited driver with
TTL on/off control. Then you could easily use the 555
circuit linked to by H_M above..

It is difficult to modulate an LM317 current regulated
driver.

Not really...

The 555 can turn on and off a transistor which will pulse raw power to the driver. Another alternative (which isn't very neat/efficient) is wire the 555 as the trigger of a relay.

Or you could mount a motor with a slotted disk in
front of the Laser's aperture and use the 555 to
control the speed of the motor....

Thanks for the feedback guys, I decided I would stick with running the "pulse" function from a trigger instead. As I plan on implementing the circuit into a Nerf Recon.. I'll post pictures when I finish :)
