1st Build, 3W 9mm 445nm

Here's a couple quick beamshots. I'll have to do some better photography later.

Super happy with this laser, but probably going to sell it to fund another build, most of the fun is the build itself. :D

Nice build, I built 4 C11's for mr first build too sold 3 so far, I'm going to sell the other to fund for more builds too

I saw the thread with your build, really liked the looks of the host you used, and ended up doing the same

Really nice job documenting the build with great pics.

You mentioned that the beam with the 3 element lens was really impressive. Since you have both, how do you find the beam with the g-2 compared to the 3 element? I was wondering if the overall increase in output using the G-2 makes the beam look brighter (despite it having a little worse divergence than the 3 element.)

Also, was just wondering if you worry at all about damaging your diode with something that powerful going through a 3 element with the increased reflection compared to the G-2? I think some on the forum here have mentioned the increased reflection back into the diode with a 3 element at that power could possibly reduce diode life.

where can i get a 3W diode, or other power/wavelength diode, i mean, except for ebay,. i would like to get one from other died device, like DVD,but it is not so powerful.

I like the 3 element lens for outdoor use, since its a long, thin beam. Still VERY bright. It's also what I use for long distance balloon popping, ie 50 feet. It's a lot smaller, focused rectangle than the G2 lens. The G2 is great for close up burning and seeing what the laser puts out with a meter.

I'm not really worried about the 3 element damaging it after re reading I did said it should not be a problem. It's worth gettin both lenses so you can switch them out.

I got mine from DTR's site, but he also sells on eBay. You may not get a 3w, it's kind of a diode lottery.

Hi, these 9mm laser diodes have a model name ? What is the best lens for 445nm lasers 3 element or the G-2 ?? It's a very nice built I'll try to do this

I remember seeing this thread, no idea why I didn't say anything.

I think every build thread should have detailed macro photos like yours did. You could literally step by step through this just of pictures,

i may want to start building myself soon,, how much did this cost all together in terms of parts?
