Hehe, sorry but apart from my pulsar all my reds are going to be home made (;

I just REALLY want to know where Maxyz gets those old-time resistors that he uses for the laser heatsinks ! They are AWESOME ! If ANYONE can find out, I would be your firend for sure ! LOL !!!!

Yes - similiar to those :-) I think I may venture out to Fry's electronics this weekend, whist I wait for all the other components I have ordered to come in....I want to find an old school electronics shop with similiar resistor jackets :P

Those resistors are still available, and hardly old fashioned. They are just high power items designed to be screwed onto a heatsink... the downside is that they are usually fairly expensive.

I think these from Farnell might be interesting:

export.farnell.com/jsp/Passive+Components/Resistors,+Thermistors+&+Potentiometers/TYCO+ELECTRONICS/HSC100+0R1/displayProduct.jsp?sku=1174279

How you remove the resistor innards and insert the laser is left as an exercise to the reader ;)

why didnt my link work.

export.farnell.com/jsp/Passive+Comp...ICS/HSC100+0R1/displayProduct.jsp?sku=1174279

Seems farnell links dont work directly, but you can enter the SKU number in the search field... they seem to be the same as paper183 linked.

I like those... and I had looked at them before. Although, there is a problem that presents itself here... The innards are too big! :(

If we can buy the aluminum casing itself, we can make it work... but the resistors in there are far too big to house anything! On the ones the size of the maxyz modules the innards would be big enough to house a minimag in there... ;D I could be wrong though... ::)
