15mw 532nm Aixiz lab module with 5vdc power supply

Re: 15mw 532nm Aixiz lab module with 5vdc power su

They were big chunky crystals, approx 3x the size as the ones that come in the DX labby's

Wannaburn,

Thanks for the detailed description of the meticulous careful disassembly of the dpss module.  I know I'm going to be referring to this in future mod projects.

My question is, where did you order the larger "chunky crystals"? and do you mind sharing their cost (or what they usually go for)?  Was this a rare ebay find?  I know they are very expensive new, if they are bigger than the standard Casix hybrids, which are only good for around 100mw or so.  And also, the mod you show on that other thread (with the impressive ~300mw output)....was that done with discrete seperate Nd:YVO4/KTP?  None of the bonded or glued crystals could take that level of power could they? Did you measure those larger crystals?

Re: 15mw 532nm Aixiz lab module with 5vdc power su

The beauty of these modules is that there is an ample ammount of heatsinking for the crystal set. In comparison to many DPSS modules I have slaughtered in the course of the past year, these are one of the few that have such mass.

Most H/S's consist of a dinky little brass ring, which doesnt seem to have the ability to absorb all the heat. In turn you get an astable output and mode issues. This is why I put the time into these ones, as they are a perfect candidate for learning and improving.

With a 1watt pump, and an output of 300mW, they barely get warm. In fact the performance picks up and the output increases when they get good and warm, but stays at a steady level.

Ill see if I can find similar crystal sets and ill look for the email add'y from the guy I bought mine from. I last tried to contact him in the Spring with no luck. But it wouldnt hurt to try again. If I can get a hold of him, I will pass the info to you via PM ;)

Re: 15mw 532nm Aixiz lab module with 5vdc power su

Thank you. That would be great. I have a friend who is sending me a small hybrid in the mail soon...I think it's of the very tiny Casix 0101-0102 variety, something like that or similar. It was real cheap in any case. I think I'll use that just to cut my teeth on DPSS and see what I'm up against when building my own from scratch.

Today I got my Snoctony 50 labby in the mail. I'll be posting about it in another thread.
