12V Buck Driver question

I have a 12V power source and want to run a simple 808nm 300mW laser module at its driver's operating voltage of 3-5V and 320mA of current.

I want to run my laser in the field off of the same power source that I will be running my other electronic equipment, which is a 12 volt 7Ah lead acid battery.

What might be the simplest/cheapest way to limit the current and voltage supplying the module?

The module already has a driver then?

If you don't care about efficiency use a 3.3V linear regulator, maybe a couple caps and that's it.
The regulator will make about 2-3W of heat though, so use a heatsink.

I think I figured out a cheap solution.

I will cannibalize a simple 12vDC car charger device outputting 5V at 320mA and run it in line from my power source. $6 Amazon.
