Hey guys,

I am thinking about purchasing a 10mW Green Laser Module

(I'm new to the Laser Pointer Stuff :P)

10mW Green Laser Module - Jaycar Electronics

The website says all that I need to do is to "Simply connect a 3VDC supply"
How do I do this? Does it just mean use batteries that add up to 3 Volts?

Also... I went and enquired in the store and they mentioned something about soldering a negative and positive cable somewhere?

Honestly by the looks of the module, it just looks as if i need to put it in a casing with batteries ... Im not sure :/ 96600c4fea763bf8733b826e6b52aea6.png

Please help me set this module up or link me to a tutorial !!

A similar moduel can be found cheaper on ebay (like 10$-20$). You can use two 1.5V AA or AAA cells in series to power it.

Positive goes to the case, negative to the driver contact. You'll need a host for the module, loads of people to buy em from here.

Alternatively you can buy a whole pointer with the module inside for 5$ off ebay, 90% off them are above 10mW.

That 10mW Module is way too expensive...
As was mentioned above... get one at a better price
on eBay...
Just be careful.... the Lasers sold on eBay are usually
overspec and without IR filters. I suggest you get
yourself some appropriate Laser Safety Goggles/Glasses.

Yes I know it is incredibly overpriced. But I live in Australia and lasers over 1mW are really hard to obtain so I think this is my best shot.

You'd be waaaaay better off buying a module from ebay or DX..ect

Fully legal to import

You can buy parts, Just not the full laser.

So you are saying that I can just get a cheaper module off ebay and customs wont take it? That doesn't sound right, but seeing as you are from Sydney is that what you do?

The customs website states that you can import laser modules and parts the only thing being moderated is full battery operated hand held lasers. It's perfectly legal for you to have a 100mW Green laser that runs by plugging it into the wall, The minute it becomes battery powered it's classified as "illegal". That's how we all build lasers in Australia, buy the individual parts, and put it together.
