100W Laser repair!

Could probably dump at least a good 200-300W optical power into that rod I'd say.

That's not the issue ... the rod/lamp cavity would need to be substantially modified/completely replaced in order to support diode pumping. The configuration is different and you still need water cooling for both the rod and the diodes at those kind of powers. You'd need to transverse pump it (more commonly called side pump) to achieve any reasonable amount of performance.

Assuming this is the same laser I think it is then it's Nd doped. Any laser warning stickers on there? They'll tell you laser type and emitted wavelengths. Not sure on Nd percentage, I'd only be guessing if I gave you a number. Going to take a guess and say ~0.8% or around there but I may be entirely wrong there.

Yes, It is nearly / is white when I look at it without my phone's LED light shining at it (just the florescent bulbs above me)

I gathered the cavity would need to be completely redesigned. I was already thinking of side pumping. Good motivation for me to get on with my vacuum chamber so I can sputter a nice gold coating onto a machined cavity

However, I'd rather get it going as-built first. Hah.

Hmmm ... may be a lower percentage then. Can't remember if it's lower or higher for these arc lamp pumped, Q-switched lasers...

Sounds like you at least have the tooling for the job. There's some information out there about building these from scratch but you may need to do some digging to find it.

Yeah - get it running, then worry about modifications :p

Edit: Steve on PL made a good point about diode pumping - Nd percentage won't be right, you'd need to replace the rod too.
