100W Green Laser - $84 @ DX! Lol :P

I checked the newwish website and yes it is 100mW and not 100W.
still it is a nice heatsink and circuit board. Funny thing is all the new labbies use the same multi purpose circuit board. Might get the cheapo IR labby for the heat sink and circuit board

Yeah - I was joking!

But I'm still REALLY interested in it!
I think I'll wait for a few to feed through to place before I order. Mainly for 2 reasons, 1.) I can't afford it, and 2.) on the PCB, there is a socket for "RED" which *may* mean that you can connect 2 lasers together?

Saying that though, I'd much prefer to have sep. boards for heat/strain/redundancy issues!

It's a shame the red modules are in crappy non-heatsinked housings. I'm looking for a fat ass red heatsink the same as the green, to mount in a box.

Does anyone know the best ratio for R to G. I've seen it around here somewhere, I think it was 1:3 or something..... But if I want to use 100mW green, then a 300-400mW red is going to be expensive!
I could get a 35mw green and a 100mW red, would that work?

It depends on the wavelength of the red really. Using the GB diode at 100+ mW and a 30 mW-odd green pointer, i find that the green is still much brighter, and the combination a very greenish yellow.

As a ballpark ratio, i'd say you should look at around 10:1 for 660/532 or around 3:1 for 635/532 to get a nice yellow.

I'm quite sure it can drive 2 lasers if all the components are present like in the picture. I've also seen modules (e.g. on kaidomain) with the same circuit board missing serveral components to drive only one laser.

check out the IR module. it is slightly shorter than the greeny but has the same solid heatsink and circuit board and the beam is actually red.

It's interesting as it looks really red in the pictures. Usually, 808 nm doesnt render a proper red on digital camera's, so i suspect it is a shorter wavelength... but hard to gauge what exactly.

In any case, the heatsink module plus driver board are well worth the money on their own, provided there is a reasonable method to replace the IR diode with a GB or other DVD red diode (5.6mm can).

well since DX seems to be having alot of typo's lately, maybe the IR is supposed to be red, it looks about the same wavelenght as the GB diodes actually?

Perhaps, they've updated the description to 'red' and '100 mW' by now, but no mention of the actual wavelength.

I have a good felling about this genuine Newwish 100W (HaHa) labby. The driver circuit looks pro.. And it will power a SenKat red LD taboot with lots of filter caps, two trim pots., 5 power transistors, neat but small heat sink, and I bet you can feed it any voltage of 5v plus with enough current and it will be stable!. It looks like the pump-diode pins stick out and soldered to zip wire so I would put a good dab of hot glue there for strain relief. But this looks like a serious laser.
I see a easy TTL mod for red and green pulsing for a neat laser show here!
I just canceled that 80(90) $64.51 newbie laser (sku9311) after waiting 16 days for shipment.

This DX 100mW labby is brand spanking new and I'm going to be a guinnie pig on this 100mW because it look too good to pass up.
Could this newbie laser be a real genuine 100mw?

Wish me luck, that why they’re called Newwish lasers!

Laser rant:
One month ago my DX true 100mW died in 1st 1 hour and I got screwed because it was a clone Newwish. Dx told me............
I paid $100/ hour for beam til death. Crystal crib death. The crystal mirror looked like it was painted with finger paint when viewed under 50X mag

@ Laserrod - I'd be really interested if these labbies will be 'TTL' able, as I'd want to stick them in a scanner that I *might* make in the future!

Let me know how that pans out!

The driver board doesnt seem to have any TTL or other blanking inputs, but perhaps they can be added.

As for the 2 pots: I'm sure its one per driver section, just setting the current for each output.

Then again, if you really want to have TTL or analog input options, you can always stick with the laser block and build your own driver... seems like all you'd need is actually on the board anyways ;)

According to Newwishlaser.com it's 10Khz TTL. switchable
But the the DX pic shows a 50mW!
The 100mW green has a different driver and module as pictured on Newwish.

I ordered the DX sku 1096 green 100mW with same pic on the Newwish site shown as a 50mW. It appers that Dx is selling 50mW as 100mW. Right?
Now I will E-MAIL DX about 50 or 100, what's up.

DX did correct the 100W title.

The 100mW pic from Newwwishlaser.com pic below.

Update again!
I contacted DX about the 50 or 100mW possible error.
They updated thier discription till they can confirm power with Newwish.
That's real customer love as they call it.
