100mw laser question

kostuhoss,
I think it would be wise to give that seller negative feedback. Clearly he is lying about the IR filter in the laser pen, alot of people wouldnt even know what one is, they would just look and think oh that cool *buy*.

You would be warning other buyers of the deceit this person does. And to save there hard earned money.

Also looking at the video in the auction, it s linked to a really dodgey site, i am not suprised that person sells fake lasers.

a i gave him neutral feedback cose he refund it, but iam proud cose 3 people mail me about that laser and i told them to do not buy it and to come to this forum to get more info about lasers :D i fell like a fireman who just saved 3 peoples lives ;D ;D ;D

On a more serious note, besides sunspots, what does the IR actually do to one's eyes?(I know it's something we can't see but is harmful).
It BURNS retinal substances which although they're not reactive to IR they are still very sensitive and a very small power is needed to damage them(compared to the amount of power needed to damage other tissues at least).Though not as damaging as visible light, IR can hit your eye all day without you knowing which increases the danger factor.

can you actually look at the dot of a 100mW 532nm laser without squinting, or is it too bright ??

Yes and no. Your question is too vague.

You could view the dot a half mile away from the point of origin without any problem. You should not view the dot on a brightly colored wall with 50 feet or so. These are just rough suggestions and in no way are they rules to follow. The rule to follow is use protective eyewear when exposed to potentially harmful lasers. ;)
