At least he posted pics though.

A small note: if you did something even a tiny bit wrong it is very possible that the diode is in fact kaput so you may not want to rule that out completely. For your sake I would hope you either wired something incorrectly or didn't make a full connection somewhere or your batteries are dead, something simple and not an expensive error...

I'm using the same host for the same diode, is testing the driver output with a multimeter enough to ensure you don't burn your diode suposing that are the readings are 1.8A?

A multimeter is not the true proper way to test since the multimeter will not draw the same voltage as the diode would so the test is not perfect but it is better than nothing.

I second what Moh said. Remember ESD is very bad and short out your driver before attempting to connect it to your diode.
