Nope. This is at about 10-15 inches away from the wall. Horrible divergence. Broken diode or meter.

Or badly adjusted lens? That seems reasonably bright for 405, just the divergence is horrible. You may be able to take the focusing ring off and adjust the lens so that adjusting the focusing ring will actually focus the laser.

Then again it could just be a dud - maybe no the sarcasticly lower power level mentioned, but far under spec and perhaps even operating in multimode resulting in terrible divergence regardless of what you do with lenses.
