Two things I have used in the past in place of hot solder and gun: Liquid Solder sold in tubes here Hot Glue gun - This baby works wonders for attaching wires to anything, if the object attached to doesnt get hot enough to melt the glue, this is a great tool to have in your mad scientist chest

ok Im finding it has a LOT to do with reflection and asorbing light I guess....... my matches have white tips. If I blacken them with a marker, they light in about 8 sec, I also have plastic cups. If I shine it at a red cup it will melt through the side in like 12 sec, if it hits a blue cup it...
