Need high power w/ spot diameter of <= 5 microns, close focus OK

The graph goes to below 400, it is not labeled at that point though. And it shows little to no damping for RTV 615, and not much more for the Sylguard. If you can keep it focused to the smallest spot possible and keep it there, it may do the job due to the extreme power density. The best bet is...

Need high power w/ spot diameter of <= 5 microns, close focus OK

No, I meant I should read slower, theres a big difference between silicon and silicone.. 12x at 750mw with an aspheric lens should work, you say the absorption graph stops at 500nm, but which way is the curve heading at this point? It will probably burn at this power density, clear silicone is...

Need high power w/ spot diameter of <= 5 microns, close focus OK

Haha, should have read that slower.. You are going to have problems marking it if its clear, you need a wavelength that will absorb the laser well. An aixiz holder in a heatsink should do the job fine really. I'm sure you are going to have to use infrared to make a mark on it though, an 808nm...

    Five Buck Fiber Optics

Apparently the acrylic is transparent to 370nm and opaque by 300nm, there is little drop in output using 1.5m vs 10cm. Time will tell if 405nm ruins it, but its not UV really, just a deep violet colour.

Need high power w/ spot diameter of <= 5 microns, close focus OK

It could be focused using only one collimating lens, unscrewed a turn or two. This can give a focal length of 20-30mm, not sure on the spot size though. Still I dont think a 12x will mark sillicon, perhaps a more powerful infrared laser might tho.

    Five Buck Fiber Optics

I recently needed to use fiber optics for another project, and couldn't really find much diy info or a cheap way of coupling fiber to a laser diode. I was drawing some bits for a local guy to machine, and thought there's got to be an easier way than basically making a mini optics bench with...

    radiation levals THE FACTS

Yes, go back to sleep people, nothing to see here... Yes a nuke plant usually puts out less radiation than a coal plant of the same capacity. A million tonnes of coal has a lot of nasties in. But "THE FACTS" are that some of the reactors have melted down, and explosions have caused leaks...

    AixiZ 445nm lens...

Recieved my second lenses today, after my original order 5 weeks ago. Even worse, it doesnt even focus the beam this time, at the best focal point the BLOB was over three times the line/ dot size of the acrilic lens. And as for the coating, it had a slight yellow tinge, but after laying all my...

**Maybe Another?** GB: LPC-815 Sleds $4.45 300mW Red Laser Diode

Re: Official GB: LPC-815 Sleds $4.45 300mW Red Laser Diode Inside! 5 please! Ready when you are.

    My 445nm build custom DIY

Nice work, I too am waiting for a decent lens.. :( The pointer is nice, respect for starting with bar stock. For around 10 bucks these hosts were great, it would have cost many times more to machine anything similar, the bar stock would have cost about the same. And thanks for linking to an...

    My first 445 build, 18650 *sized* ~400mw

The flex seems ok, I will be turning the current down and putting a red diode in. And it takes a cr123, its 70mm long. :)

    My 445nm build custom DIY

Cheers guys, It seems fine tbh, for now at least. I did manage to get a bit of gold on the tip, its barely visible. If the copper loses it connection I will swap it for a small stainless stud. I've now just cranked it right up, and will leave it there, it goes through cardboad in seconds...

Finished one, works fine.. Daylight, slight haze.

    My 445nm build custom DIY

Oh, i'd hoped it would handle a lot more tweaking than that? Has anybody broken their pot? I think the microboosts pot is near the center though, right where my + connection goes. The option is there I suppose though. No beamshots of this laser, but I just posted a thread of my first 445, some...

    My first 445 build, 18650 *sized* ~400mw

As soon as my first 445 diode came in the post, I put it straight into my "old" PHR laser. Its about the same size as an 18650 cell so "pocket rocket" is a pretty good description at 680ma. Gets warm in 30 seconds though. I'm still waiting for some parts for my larger hosts which I will run at...

    My 445nm build custom DIY

So, I tried that and it seems I dont have the right chemicals.. So tomorrow I will get a stainless steel M3x6 cd stud and use that. The drivers are set up and soldered, just need to stick it together. It seems everyone here only cares about off the shelf kits made by xxxxx post members...

Re: My 445nm build Thanks, I think I may be able to use a gold coin as a cathode, I will look it up.

    My 445nm build custom DIY

Had a shock a few weeks ago, last time I was on this site Bluray was the latest thing. "A watt of BRIGHT blue for a few notes!!??" Got my bits, and some empty Cree C6 from Dx, and set about replacing the tiny pill with a decent heatsink. With over a watt, I wanted to be able to adjust the...

    AixiZ 445nm lens...

@Lazeerer, It looks to be quite "clipped", to round up the dot at longer distances?
