This is very nice. I have a couple of questions.
- What diode is it, how much does it cost? What current are you driving at?
- Where did you get the host, do you machine it yourself?
Legend has it, somebody once managed to take a Spyder 3 host apart...
Seriously though, I remember one post long ago, problem is most stuff is glued in, so you gotta use hot air gun on it, and the heatsink with the diode in it is threaded in, which makes it probable you'll twist and break the...

Personally, no idea why people insist on the "1st introductory post" stuff. It should be OK to just come up and ask a question without first sharing personal information.
Thank you, I could use some info about new actual drivers. Some of these things take over 20 Watts of input power, I'm really curious what kind of driver will power this, while still being able to fit in a flashlight-sized host.
EDIT - As for the first build... hmm that 490nm thing looks exotic...
Indeed, the info compiled there will take me some time to chew through, it's quite comprehensive.
As for the football, heh yeah thanks. This is the highest we have ever ranked in World Cup. Pretty big news. People are going crazy over here.
Sweet, thank you! (Didn't actually expect somebody compiled such a neat list)
Unless c0ld replaced the infamous search functionality on these forums with something new, I'll stick to the google search bar still embedded at the bottom of the page.
Haha, thank you.
I'll be working on my game but I'll find out the result of today's match by the amount of car honking, fireworks and gunfire outside my window, anyway. Like 2 previous times.
Oh hi, always nice to see another familiar face :)
Thanks so much for the update. Reading all these...
Hey, Survival is still around! I think I did some heatsinks for them before...
Anyway, well take a look at my old shop, the heatsinks were made for empty flashlights we all commonly had a name for, like "C6" or "XM-L2" or "C3"...
Very good, but I meant premade hosts, flashlight shells.
We used to order it from DealExtreme... quickly checks if that even exists anymore ... Oh that still exists! There was this other alternative to DX I can't seem to remember anymore.
EDIT: @Bowtie, Woah Jetlasers's PL-E thing is ***y. I...
Reply to your edit,
Man, I don't even recognize most of those wavelength numbers. Things are quite different.
Should I get my lathe operational again, I'd love to produce some sinks for you all.
What are currently popular hosts? Where do you get them from?
What about drivers?
Hi, and thanks!
Hi, Jeff, thanks for the welcome.
Huh let's see.
490 nm? For fifty bucks? You're kidding...
Seven Watt blues?
1 Watt greens?
Okay yeah, I missed a lot.
And yes rep system is insane. Thanks!
EDIT - Why does my text contain a lot of blank new lines suddenly?
Hi.
It's been 3 years since my last post here, even more since I was active in any sort of capacity.
I am missing this hobby, and thinking of perhaps re-acquainting myself with it. Starting with this forum.
I see a lot of new faces here, so hi everybody. Name's Eud. I'm from Croatia...
You're all making quite valid points, but honestly I'm just so excited to a) be alive within this day and age, b) looking at a fulltime job opportunity with hopefully some disposable income which should render the "a)" part relevant.
While I am looking forward some 1440p gaming, I do not think...
A good deal of them support multimonitor or ultrawide resolution, and if not you can always create custom resolution profile and run the game borderless window.
VR - yeah, I also wanna know where is that thing going. Currently it's literally the singe most expensive gaming setup you can build...
LOL, true, true!
But a man can dream, right?
I mean, 7680 x 1440 of desktop space...
Not to mention spatial awareness in games, those that you could run on such a resolution.
Weird, I'm looking at some local prices right now.
Cheapest 2560x1440 IPS panel in entire Croatia comes down to about $300, Dell DELL 24" P2416D
Cheapest 21:9 I'm looking at is:
LG 25UM58-P , 2560x1080, IPS panel as well, comes down to about $200.
Can you check up those specific models?
