    3x2x0.25 Battery?

I have a battery box I'm working with, and I'm looking for a battery as close to as possible to 3x2x0.25 (inches). The closest I've gotten is a Galaxy Note II battery at 2.2x2x0.25, but I'd like one a little bigger (with more power), but it can't be too expensive, either. I've found that...

    Orange plastic

I have some thick, translucent orange plastic. Does anyone know how I could reasonably see how good it is at protecting against blue light? I want to use it as a shield for some laser demos at my old high school.

10.5 mm diameter to work with,

I bought a really inexpensive laser pointer from DealExtreme a while ago, and it never worked, but I decided to not care and just use it as a host for a new laser project. Problem is that the inside diameter is 10.5mm and Aixiz modules are 12mm (right? I don't have any on hand). Are there any...

    GONE: iPod touch 4g, 64GB, $250 trade, $200 cash

This iPod is in the mail, sorry to any interested folks, but thanks for your interest! I have a 4th generation iPod touch, 64GB capacity. It'll be two years old on New Year's Day, so it's out of warranty, but it works just fine. I have a black silicon case, crystal clear screen protector, an...

    Driver alternatives?

I don't like DX, they've pissed me off too much, so I'm using BestOfferBuy, which has had great customer service for me so far. Anywho... What's to stop someone from using a circuit like one of these: 18V 5W Cree Circuit Board for Flashlights (16.8mm*5.5mm) [E17071] : BestOfferBuy.com, Buy...

    808nm collimating lens

I know someone who would like an 808nm IR laser. My dad told me that IR light doesn't focus the same through glass as visible light does. If that's true, where could I get a collimating lens for 808nm light? If he's wrong (more or less), then will a standard Aixiz Acrylic lens do the trick?

    O-Like Blu-Ray diode driver

The O-Like Blu-Ray driver says 4.8V output, but I thought GGWs needed higher voltage than that, over 5V. Does anyone know if these work for GGWs or SF-AW210 diodes?

Where can I find a super tiny green module?

If you missed it from the title, I'm looking for a super small green module. One approximately the size you see in the photo. Sitting on top of the thing you see (it was a collimating lens with a red diode. It can be longer, but not larger than the largest diameter part of it. It's a broken...

    I know it's DANGEROUS, but...

So, I want to do jayrob's keychain build using the Lowe's flashlight and the AW 10280. I broke my FlexDrive. I know it's dangerous, but it shouldn't be too bad if I use a 10ohm resistor and a short duty cycle if I just connect my LPC diode directly to the battery, right? Or should I put in a...

Where can I get IR diodes, and how powerful of one should I get?

I'm looking to make a greenie at least 100mW in power. Based on a *slightly* conservative estimate of the probable efficiency of decent- to good-quality crystals, about how powerful of an IR diode am I looking for, and where could I find one?

    New DX green module's optics

So, instead of pot-modding, could I buy one of the new DX green modules and replace the IR diode with one designed for higher power? Or is there a risk with that, too, 'cause the circuit board and/or optics wasn't meant for higher powers? If that's really a risk, is it a high risk or low risk?

Have DMM, but no test load for my FlexDrive

So, I have a FlexDrive, but I (temporarily) lost the free 1-ohm resistors I had. However, I have a DMM and I can measure the Pot. Can anyone tell me what resistance to look for, for the maximum current output? I have it in the 108-412mA range, and I'm powering a red from the LPC sled. The...

SF-AW210 questions (Yes, I searched already)

I've been reading, and apparently a GGW sled has a 20X red diode in it. Does the SW-AW sled have a decent red diode in it? Also, what's the max safe current on an SW-AW? I've seen 180-200mA on a few sites, but I couldn't find a chart or anything here on LPF.

Cheap O-Like diode drivers; has anyone used them?

I was wondering if anyone has used the cheap drivers from O-like. If so, how are they? Also, based on listed specs, should this driver work on with an LPC? 2pcs Constant current laser diode driver 80-500mA w/TTL [OLDD20] - $5.00 : O-Like, Quality Products, Great Prices Lastly, if anyone has...

    315 MHz...you think this'll work?

So, I found out that car FOBs transmit at radio frequencies of 315 MHz. I broke the transmitter on mine. As long as I plug it in right, this should work, shouldn't it? SparkFun Electronics - RF Link Transmitter - 315MHz Any suggestions?

rckstr test load...kind of, test loads in general...

So, if I hooked up a rckstr test load in 'red' mode to a FlexDrive and set it for, let's say, 80mA. Then, if I put on a PHR, would the FlexDrive give me 80mA and just work harder for the extra total wattage (as it's not processing voltage for a higher diode), or what would happen? Also, what...

Rayfoss hosts - what can you do with 'em?

I've been looking at the Rayfoss hosts and considering them. But, what can you do with them? Do the O-Like green modules fit? (Online, O-Like says 12mm, but the Rayfoss hosts say 11.89-11.92, small tolerance.) Will an Aixiz module fit? (The Aixiz website says they come in 8x14mm and...

    Rayfoss hosts

I've been thinking about one of these for a while, since they're so inexpensive and look so nice, but I'm curious to see what people have done with them and what they think of them. Has anyone put anything other than a 12mm O-Like module in one, and had reasolable or noteable success? How good...

    Buck only driver

Are there any buck-only drivers (prefferably that will handle a generous voltage)? If not, is there anyone who could (and would) make one? DrLava? A buck-only driver would be great for a host like the Coleman Max (featured here), for a red or Blu-Ray build.

Apple vs. Microsoft, an objective 'debate'...mostly objective

First of all, I'm just going to say, I'll never own a Mac, for four simple reasons: Troubleshooting your own issues on a Mac is harder than on Windows, I like building my own computers from scratch, Windows systems are far less expensive for better specs, and I like computer games that just...
