    I know that go back and read my posts. I have been trying for 10 pages to explain how these work. But it should offer much improvement with simple optics. Much more compact and easy to build compared to cylinder pair.

    Don't give up yet! The first testers have only had them for a few days. I doubt laser tree had pointers in mind when then FAC'd these diodes. That doesn't mean they can't be used though. Also, about using aspheric lenses to collimate these..... Be careful buying any old aspheric lens...

    My guess would be with a 75mm FL the SA should be around .5mRad and the FA around .1mRad. God only knows what they glued on there and called a FAC. What did the beam look like with the 75mm FL? Im very curios. Also, did the beam fit on the 12.5mm dia?

    Sorry i misunderstood your results with the 25mm. Sounds promising then. You have a longer fl lens to try? I found this pic online that shows a cross section what is happening in the fiber. Those phosphor things look really cool. I would buy one but my laser budget is zero at the moment.

    Its not going to work with the standard lens we are used to. The FAC does give us more leverage to get a "squarer" beam. It should be simple as a longer FL colimation lens. RC didn't have luck with a 25mm bi-convex. Not sure why, should have produced a "squarer" beam than the same...

    Hmmm. Well its never gonna be square because the ratios of emitter size to divergence of the raw diode are too "uneven". But if you can't get a better beam/spot than an un-fac'd diode my guess is the FAC is making the astigmatism worse. Two cylinders, one for X an one for Y should fix it.
