sorry I worded it wrong. I meant the green and red wires, they have insulation around them. They are 'magnet wire' that's why they can be touching and still have left and right audio.

burning also removes the layer of insulator off the wire. cant solder with it there!

hmm, true. I would probably put on my goggles after I knew the laser is live, so I wouldn't need to see the led after that anyways. As for the led I'm just going to get the power from the driver: With 100ohm resistor in series with led Goodluck! :) Dont break the key switch like I did! :p
