LPF is the best!!
I also want to say thanks to everyone for their support and kind words in my time of need.
I will return, stronger then ever, thanks to everyone's help (and prayers) here.
In the meantime, if some of my posts don't make sense, blame it on the nasty painkillers I'm taking...
What were you powering it with before you got your charger? You might have fried it by letting the batteries run too low. 1.1W takes a lot of power to run.
Welcome to the forum.
You need around that power to see it outdoors under cloudy conditions. With the sun out it will still be hard to see.
A focusable one is almost a necessity if you are going to do any burning. The higher the power the longer the range, and cheaper then a B/E mW for mW...
Welcome to the forum.
I too, was surprised when I discovered this forum. Also a few other ones, (not nearly as good) dedicated to lasers.
I had one of the first pointers to come out, cost me around $70 or so in '89?
I soon became bored with it and put in in a drawer.
It was only after going...
I believe to do this trick, you would need an FDA variance for each show.
You are going to need way more then 5mW and you are putting on a public performance.

The only way I would do this is; the umbilical cord must be soldered on both ends. (non-removable)
Pin connectors are to way too subject to momentary opens and continuity changes. Laser diodes are too sensitive to have anything except a well soldered connection.
Also, the wires used in the...
Most protected ones say so on the case, also they are a couple mm longer then a unprotected one. And I've seen protected ones be slightly larger in diameter also. They would not fit into the host, where a unprotected one would. (rare case, I'm sure)
Welcome to the forum.
I agree with all the above statements. (regarding true 100mW for $20)
You are going to have to pay at least $50 to get one that will last.
It is possible the clouds were that low. Look in the first fog pic., the "Q-tip looks like it is only 15-20 feet above the house. I've shot thousands of beam shots and never seen that effect before. Nor have I seen the beam terminating in such a short distance from the laser. I am going to try...
Do you know you need safety goggles for anything over 5mW,unless you use it only outside for starpointing. (look out for planes)
50mW can burn up your eyes 5X faster then you can blink!
Look on FocalPrice for a cheap pair if money is short.
Buy the best set you can afford.

Welcome to the forum.
Sorry to say this, but your laser is junk. If it lasts a week you will be lucky.
Look in the BST section or Company Review section for dependable sellers. DinoDirect is not one of them
If it does last a week, you will still want something a "little" stronger.:whistle...
