3 Scientech power meter heads on ebay, 4 hours to go

Yeah in order for these to be useful they would need to be calibrated with a certain meter, like a Scientech 365, 362, etc. Calibration either requires and a calibrated power source (and some circuitry know-how) or a laser and another calibrated meter. I think this auction would only really be...

    Spyder III BLUE portable

Nice review as always Mike! Really interesting seeing the different graphs based on head temperature...DPSS lasers fascinate me, especially the more "complex" systems that are used to produce blue or yellow wavelengths. I only wished they weren't so gosh-darned expensive for my budget! *sigh*...

LPM with Ophir Sensor from nospin - Awesome!

Doh! I should have checked for a FS sale first *facepalm*... Thanks for the link Jay! I agree, I think for $285 this is a great deal for a 5W calibrated LPM with 1mW increments. The only feature it's really lacking that the other hobbyist meters (notably the LaserBee and both Kenometers) have is...

Another review of the cheap focalprice goggles! (LPM Heavy) *Updated with IR filters*

It seems the majority of people who order these goggles are receiving defective pairs...I guess I must've gotten really lucky! three pairs in one envelope and no damage. But I guess that's how it goes when buying cheap Chinese goods, the majority of them lack consistency in quality.

LPM with Ophir Sensor from nospin - Awesome!

Definitely an interesting meter! Nice review Jay! If I read correctly they are $250 and can be painted as per the request of the customer?

    FS: Mini Green Kit! SCHWEET!

Hey Jayrob, do you know if it's possible to replace the tailcap on these hosts? I recently purchased a few GITD tailcaps and they all glow a lot more prominently than the one currently on mine, and wondering if it would be possible to switch them out?

Another review of the cheap focalprice goggles! (LPM Heavy) *Updated with IR filters*

You wouldn't expect them to have individual variations, but that's just what the few tests different members have performed suggest. For example, HIMNL9's test of these same goggles with a similarly-powered violet laser produced much greater reductions than my goggles. (177mW reduced to <1mW and...

Another review of the cheap focalprice goggles! (LPM Heavy) *Updated with IR filters*

I definitely agree with this, tese goggles have proven to be rather inconsistent, especially in their build quality. But I suppose that's what we should expect from $8 goggles from HK.

Another review of the cheap focalprice goggles! (LPM Heavy) *Updated with IR filters*

Hey guys, I updated the OP today with data from a more powerful green laser (A Jayrob C3 kit with a DX "200mW" module) and IR-filtered data on this laser. The new results seem to suggest that these goggles are more effective at blocking 532nm than the earlier O-like pointer tests would lead one...

FS: IR filter for green DPSS Laser

For anyone who is curious, Laserz4sale also provided me with the other relevant specifications before I bought two of these filters: Requirements Material: B270 Glass in accordance with MIL-G-174 Square: Filter thickness 1 mm Length:14 +/- 1mm Width:14 +/- 1mm Surface quality: F/F per...

Very Odd BR Laser DIode in 150mW pointer (post in correct place now)

I've been under the impression that susie only sells the lasers (that is she stocks them and ships them) and they are assembled/made by their parent company...I could be mistaken though.

Very Odd BR Laser DIode in 150mW pointer (post in correct place now)

I have the same laser and I just assumed it was a standard diode but I guess not? Interesting...maybe someone could ask Susie as to what diode it is.

laserbee data logging on a Mac?

I'd say the most comparable thing is Apple's Cocoa API: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocoa_(API) It's not as "simple" as VB6, but it's a lot more versatile. I think the best bet is either finding a way to make the current program rune in wine, or finding a graphing program compatible with the...

laserbee data logging on a Mac?

IMHO that seems like a sound plan to me. Also, if it's not possible to run the program under wine or successfully in a VM, it's possible that there would be a program freely available for mac that can interpret the LaserBee data stream...I will do some looking for such a program and Jerry or...

    FS: Mini Green Kit! SCHWEET!

Yeah you make a good point, when dealing with cheap suppliers like DX most of the time we aren't truly sure what exactly we're getting, but that's what comes with cheap suppliers! ;) I'm guessing that the "issues" I'm having are mainly due to the quality of these batteries, and just generally...

    FS: Mini Green Kit! SCHWEET!

I will definitely post some pictures once I have the time to take some decent ones ;) Another note: this thing DEVOURS batteries! The humble 800mAh CR2s I got from DX don't last long at all haha. Also, I noticed that when the battery starts to drain, not only does the power output go down to...

    FS: Mini Green Kit! SCHWEET!

Hey Jayrob, so I finally got around to soldering the DX module today, so my build is all finished, and I have to say this is a SWEET build. This is my new favorite laser by far :D My module is averaging around 155mW total and about 142mW filtered! This exceeded my expectations, it looks like I...

laserbee data logging on a Mac?

It's pretty much guaranteed to work under bootcamp since that's just your mac booting into windows, but it's a pretty big hassle IMHO, coming from someone who has 4 operating systems on one computer...VMs are a little more iffy since, in my experience anyway, they seem to have issues with a lot...

laserbee data logging on a Mac?

Hey Jerry, I'd like to point out that it may be possible on all the newer Intel-based Macs to run the LaserBee Software under what's called "Wine" (the Mac builds are called Darwine). For anyone that doesn't know, Wine is basically a open-source Windows runtime that is capable of running...
