Dude I've been away from the hobby for years and now I come back and see continuous rainbows everywhere!
I might have to pick one of these up. It'll be my first new laser in who knows how long!
If the laser modules you buy do have a driver, and not just a current limiting resistor, then you can wire them all in parallel and power them off a single 3v supply.
I think these do have a driver.

Color the lens on your red 5mw pointer with a blue magic marker. :san:
You need a larger budget buddy. And yes there is a very noticable difference between blue and violet.
This would be your best bet.

This type of question comes up all the time, and the short answer is... No. You can't take a 1mW diode and turn it into a burning laser. The little diode was never made for much more than 1mW or even 5mW what ever the case may be. You'll need at least 100mW before you get into the "burning"...
Hey, does anyone have a voltage vs current chart? I'd love to make a low power pointer that runs off a single AAA battery. What kind of voltage does it take for the current draw to be around 70-100mA ish range?

Wow, thats impressive. Although I've never really been "power hungry" when it comes to lasers. My 800mW 445nm is plenty for me. lol.
Nice work guys. I'm sure this will help out alot of people.

So the M and H diodes can handle more current, supposedly. Has anyone pushed one to the limit? How much more output do they have over the As? 25% more?

I got a letter from the FDA a week after I bought a 60mW green laser from LaserGlow back in 2005. They told me it was marked as "seized" in customs but for some reason it slipped through and I received it anyway. All they basically said was to show proof I returned it and no fines or charges...
