    I'm back on LPF

Hello everyone...I found this match, and I got a 3mw laser...and I was hoping someone here could spoon feed me the info on how to light it, so my brain wouldn't have to.... J/K!! In all seriousness, I was super into DPSS and other lasers between around 2007-2009 or so, and was somewhat active...

A valuable tool for removal of diodes from an aixi

I discovered a great way to instantly remove dead diodes from an Aixiz module. A spring loaded punch used for drilling. One pop and the diode flew right out -- first try. Much better than the hammer and .22 cartridge method. I wouldn't use this for any working diodes you plan on using again...

    Laserbee I review

I've been using my laserbee for a couple of weeks now.  It was the most anticipated and also the most exciting out of all the Christmas presents I bought for myself this year...and I can tell you right now, I bought a lot of laser equipment during the later half of last month and also this month...

Successfully changed the c-mount on my Aixiz 50mw

Today I got my Aixiz 50mw labby working again.  It had died, first...due to failure of its mains powered switching supply.  I had then restored it to working order once again using my LM317 supply.  Unfortunately I ended up frying the c-mount, probably by disconnecting the module and...

Sled extracted from Toshiba HD-A2 HDDVD player...

Today I disassembled a broken Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player which I bought for cheap off of ebay. I found some really nice aluminum heatsinks, which for me, really made it worth it since I work with power mosfets and IGBT's in my other hobbies.

Melles Griot Helium Neon Tube extraction.

After about an hour and a half of Dremmel cuts, prying with needle nose, plyers, and cussing, I finally got the tube out of my Melles Griot <5mw HeNe. This is a project I've been wanting to get around to for a long time...but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to pull off the removal without...

    My first PHR build.

Well, I put together a 405nm labby with a diode I bought a while ago off of ebay. I paid a bit too much for this diode (before I had the "brilliant" idea to check the group buys) so I am quite glad I didn't kill this one with heat, too much current (yet..heheh), or by shearing off the pins. This...

A quick and dirty enclosure for my Aixiz 5v labby

I had been using my 15mw Aixiz labby (it's outputting quite a bit more than that I am quite sure...just how much I won't know until my Laserbee gets here) with various setups that I had just basically rigged up, making the whole thing precarious and fragile.  Finally, I decided to use this...

    Meredith out of modules??

I am sure there is probably a recent thread about this (and I just didn't get the memo)....if so, someone please clue me in. Anyway... Does anyone know where the Meredith glass modules went? I went on both their ebay store and their web site and searched, plus I searched on ebay to see if...

    Mil-Spec_PRF_31013_SPECS - Safety Goggles

I obtained these goggles new...privately from a friend on another forum.  The price was nice, plus he sent a .pdf datasheet in advance for me to look over.  The datasheet claims the following: The SPECS are for use by military personnel for eye protection against ballistic fragments and laser...

Where can you salvage a LM317?

I was wondering if anyone knew any common electronic gadgets/appliances that commonly used the LM317 voltage/current regulator? My local radio shack locations are really poor about keeping components in stock and as is the case everywhere, they are mostly a cell phone store now. I will...

    50mw 532nm Snoctony labby

Well, it took 17 days to get here...two weeks and three days.  I guess that really isn't all that bad, coming registered USPS from China.  I was worried there would be problems with customs, but apparently there was no problem.  It arrived registered mail, which meant a signature was required...

Another AixiZ 50mw 532nm(the new variety) reviewed

Well, I received my Aixis 50 lab module today in the mail...it must have been shipped Priority (as was my 15mw) since I ordered it late last Saturday (or early Sunday morning perhaps).  Assuming it shipped out Monday or Tuesday, that's right on the 2-3 day window.  That's a good thing when you...

DPSS theory for colors besides 532nm...

Ok, I am wondering if anyone has access to any good web based sources of research for 593.5nm and 473nm DPSS technology...and of course, better yet, home brewing.  Of course, I've read the DPSS section of Sam's laserfaq....but it seems to me there was only brief mention of other colors besides...

808 and 1064nm blocking filters -- good deal?

I see that Snoctony offers a 10 lot of IR filters on ebay...item number 130269005361. Does anybody more well versed in optics think this is a decent deal for the money? Or can they be had much cheaper from a U.S. supplier? I will definitely need more than one in the near future, and I already...

15mw 532nm Aixiz lab module with 5vdc power supply

Hello everyone, I just joined tonight (after lurking and reading as much as I could for a couple weeks) and thought I would help out by providing a review as my first contribution.  I am new to 532nm and DPSS in general, so I guess you guys will should take some of my statements as highly...
