    Infrared lasers?

I absolutely agree with you. I specifically said "well collimated 1064 nm IR"

    Infrared lasers?

I could mention reflections. Assuming we are talking about lasers of 500 mW or less: If you aren't concerned about getting a direct beam hit to an eye (your's or someone elses) then what are you concerned about? Seriously, what do you consider the damage mechanisms to be?

    New Qualifound driver

MegaTesla, I'm looking forward to the schematic! When you get your boards, if you want to check the component values against the one from o-like, I posted some high res pictures here http://www.laserpointerforums.com/laser_pointer_forums_3/forum/showthread.php?p=520321 I will try to get some...

    Infrared lasers?

That is correct, and its easy to check. Just put an IR pass filter (or even red plastic) on your digital camera and take a picture. Then you will know. The real problem is when you wear safety goggles designed to protect you from your green laser. Most people seem to be buying goggles that...

    O-Like Constant Current Driver

Thanks Jerry. I can upload higher res version if anyone needs it, but that would take 6.9 meg :)

    OMG! They Killed LPF!

Thanks, c0ld, and I do appreciate all the work you are doing. Once the old site is working for read only, that will certainly help. And perhaps members can help work out an automated way to fix up the links.

    Getting old pictures to show.

Thanks for the info rog8811. I had realized I could do that, but if I fix all my old posts and c0ld fixes it across the forum, then I will just have to go back and fix everything again because of the double image. Also, this doesn't help me if I want to edit or delete the old atachments.

    OMG! They Killed LPF!

I realize this forum belongs to c0ld, and he can do with it whatever he wants, including shut it down and walk away. Also, that he is doing the administration by himself, has started a new job, has relocated, and spent a huge amount of time moving the forum and fixing the resulting problems...

    Bugs Noticed

Does this mean there won't be a fix for all the broken links?

    *critical* errors thread

Image attachment problem Avery, The problem with image attachments is that all the ones imported from the old system don't display and can't be edited. They can't even be deleted so that they can be re-attached. For example, see...

Simple Laser Power Meter Using IR Thermometer

Has anyone built one of these power meters yet? BTW, the IR Thermometers are back on sale for $7.99 until 5/11/09. http://www.harborfreightusa.com/html/wkend0511/usa_cpnsave.html

    Important Threads

The forum got nuked a few days ago and is now in a state of smoking ruin. The members who survived and were able to log back on are wondering aimlessly in a state of shock and confusion. All internal links are broken. Until this gets fixed (if it gets fixed, actually), you might try using the...

    *critical* errors thread

In your profile, under "Edit Options" you can check Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder That is not checked by default. Hope that helps.

    *critical* errors thread

Broken Links This was mentioned elsewhere, but it is critical. All links pointing to posts in the "old" forum just bring up the home page in the "new" forum. I (and many others) spent a great deal of time trying to link topics together to get things better organized and allow people to find...

    *critical* errors thread

Cannot edit attachments from before the "move" I cannot find a way to change an attachment on a post from before 5/1/2009. The "Manage Attachments" button is missing (see the attached pictures).

Battery stuck in the barrel of laser pointer......

Re: Battery stuck in the barrel of laser pointer.. Well, here is another idea I haven't seen suggested:  If the battery really is stuck on the silver colored insert, you can use a dremel tool or similar (even a file) and carve some metal off the inside of that insert to make its inside diameter...

    Homemade Scanning Laser Color Projector/TV

Prior art for this type of thing used rotating mirrors, which worked well for linear (saw-tooth-wave) raster scanning. Using resonance is a nice idea to keep the costs down and potentially improve reliability by eliminating rotating parts, but the problem is that it doesn't match standard...

    Heruursciences diode grab bag thread

Thanks for your threshold vs nominal data for IR diodes.  It looks very useful.  I used Excel to run a trend line through it, getting y = 7.3791x - 0.3057 (see pic). I was wondering 1) How well do you think this would scale to higher and lower power? 2) Is "nominal" power closer to the 10,000...
