    5V Boost Converter

There's a place I go to extensively for converters and they are US designed and built, in fact their turning centers in Las Vegas. Pololu Robotics and Electronics www.pololu.com Here's a list of their Boost only and Buck-Boost Modules, see if these might help...

Re: Designing Super Simple 1.5A Red Laser Drive Run Off 1 Cell ( 2 Components Only ) Its not a linear driver, its more like a current adjustable power switch, like FPF2125 for example. Kind of like a MOSFET switch that doesn't require its own power supply. I'm a particular fan of the FPF2125...

Suggestions on variable DC power supplies/oscilloscope discussion.

Re: Suggestions on variable DC power supplies. Gotta love Tube scopes though, immune to surges, keeps the workshop warm :)

Re: Designing Super Simple 1.5A Red Laser Drive Run Off 1 Cell ( 2 Components Only ) Its next to impossible to provide suggestions on modding the circuit without knowing how exactly does the IC function. The information of which can only be sourced by referencing the IC's data sheet. A design...

Suggestions on variable DC power supplies/oscilloscope discussion.

Re: Suggestions on variable DC power supplies. Cyparagon, Thanks for the corrections, I knew we could count on you :) Can you tell I don't work with lasers very much?

Suggestions on variable DC power supplies/oscilloscope discussion.

Re: Suggestions on variable DC power supplies. Well, linear regulators waste quite a bit of power and will need overhead which may inhibit your ability to produce HV for certain applications. Not sure if it is relevant to lasers or not. If your application is sensitive to EMI Noise or supply...

    520nm v. 532nm

Do keep in mind though, since you referred to astronomy, is the laser going to be used in conjunction with your telescope [as in alignment applications where it may be on all night] or are you using it to point things out? Since you're way up there [I'm in Florida] air is typically drier and...

Lmao what I found in the battery recycling bin at my uni.

I've lost count how many times I've seen this happen. As I used to buy portable power packs for people "It worked for awhile, then stopped" "I actually have to charge it?"

    Modifigng the Gearbest Skyray 4000lm

I think its a lost cause on this light, initially I thought the walls thick enough to build an aluminum slug that contacts the body but by the looks of it is way too thin Heatsinks work because air is flowing around them. Still air is a terrible conductor, any thermos will tell you. Installing...

Beautiful pictures :) Not good, that thermal relief is a huge deal-breaker. :(

    Wtb: jetlasers 3,5mm tailcap key

Stereo headphones have three sets of conductors but only two are insulated. The common ground comes out frayed and should wrap around the two sleeved types, the ground barrier minimizes EMI by shielding inducted noise. Make sure the frayed ends are shorted to both channels. then see if that works

"LIGHTHOUND" closed ..... another U.S. supplier gone.

I would recommend illuminationGear | illumination Gear They are based out of Florida, Rockledge to be specific. I have great luck ordering from them, but then again I live close batteries: Batteries - Rechargeable Review: Test/Review of EagleTac 18650 3400mAh (White-green))

Simple and small battery gauge circuit?

Beyond buying an Atml and writing code I'm not sure if theres an analog way to achieve what you are referring to. What is your intended dimension?

High Voltage (42V) Boost - Schematic Review?

well, that depends how stable that 42V is, since this is a switching converter, peak noise in the system must be taken into account as well. I'm assuming those caps are electrolytic as opposed to ceramic or tantalum just by the capacitance numbers. I would suggest using capacitors whose voltage...

    Streamlight stylus pro build

hello there! So whats the trick to getting the stylus pro head open? Where is the separation seam? I have a couple of these lights and have always thought about doing this. cheers!

    Resoldering wires on driver

Cyparagon, I find the force fitting method only works well for solid core hookups, and aluminum at that. :) However, that method works to desolder the hole if its stranded copper, just requires you to strip alot of insulation. One benefit is that you have solder wick that, depending on your wire...

    Laser driver circuits

Without knowing the acceptable dimensions of your application or the voltage requirements its difficult to recommend components. At minimum provide us with the following information: Whats your power source? One battery? Two batteries? What kind of batteries? What is your laser diode? Can you...

Could you post a picture of the [PL 532nm 1x18650] beside a [HL 532nm 1x16340] beside a [HL 520nm 2x16340] for length comparisons? I currently own the 520nm in 2x16340 and its a bit too long as a carry type astronomy laser. I'm inclined to buy the 1x16340 version, but I have no idea what the...
