The laser diode, LD, produces the dot and the module comes with a 5mW LD with a suitable driver (I think a few resistors) and a focusable housing. If you want a complete laser pointer then DX sell some that will do the trick really cheap FAQ...

You can emulate a fair amount of the exe files using wine and most programs have an alternative free version. I do miss photoshop tho :'( and tunak owns :P

have you tried right-clicking and unchecking the auto arrange icons thingy? also uncheck the align to grid option just to be sure
