A 360001 that was originally owned by hughes aircraft apparently (It has a Hughes standards label on the side).

Another review of the cheap focalprice goggles! (LPM Heavy) *Updated with IR filters*

Re: Another review of the cheap focalprice goggles! (LPM Image Heavy) I agree that 30 seconds is definitely excessive, but I thought it would be better to measure on the extreme; the data wouldn't be very consistent if it was <5 seconds. That being said, degradation definitely happened with the...

dradonlaser beam expander PERMANENTLY out of stock??!?!

Have you tried contacting them directly? I wouldn't think anyone hear would know why it's out of stock exactly...

Is the universe infinite or finite?

Hah that could be interesting...but there's so much debate even among the most educated in the field that I think any debating we would do would be mainly crazy speculation unfortunately haha. It's also changing all the time, and "classical" string theory doesn't have much merit these days...

Source for reasonably priced red laser goggles?

If you trust the specifications they give you, then yes, those should be suitable for 650nm red lasers.

$8 Green goggles and Scopeguy's BR goggles

The story with these focalprice goggles keeps getting stranger...My results in my review are rather different than yours, especially with the green. My "50mW" (actual output from 70-90mW) still has a visible, albeit very faint, dot when shone through each of my three pairs of goggles...

So what's with the repeated lengthy downtimes?

FYI Opendns was reporting "SERVFAIL" errors on NS1.LASERPOINTERFORUMS.COM and NS2.LASERPOINTERFORUMS.COM during the outage today...So I guess the nameservers just weren't resolving for whatever reason...odd

    A word about calibration...

Jerry, your explanations (especially concerning LPMs) are always very informative and a pleasure to read. That cleared up a lot of the questions I had concerning the difference in sensors...and I didn't even ask the question! ;) I would rep you but apparently I have to "spread it around" first :(/

    Youngest vet here?

Hah! True, I don't think I'm having much of an issue, member since December 2007...with only 100ish posts!? hwhhaaaa??? I'm sure some people are confused when they see such an "old" member since with such a low post count...At my current technical post rate it will take me 7000+ days to reach...

    What browser do LPFers use?

No, I have used opera, and it's a really good browser in its own right, but it's just not for me. I don't need everything integrated into one application, I like having different programs for most of my tasks. Also, the last time I used opera (Sometime in version 10...) it had really poor Linux...

    What browser do LPFers use?

The only one that I found was the one I linked to in the my first post, and like I said it's from almost two years ago; but if you feel this thread should be deleted for duplication then you are free to report it. I just figured it would be better to start a new thread since so much has changed :)

    What browser do LPFers use?

So I know that this topic has been discussed before (see nikkokapo's thread here) but a lot has changed in the world of browsers since June 2008, so I thought I'd re-open the topic with a new thread and a poll! If you have any comments about the current "browser wars", just want to say what's...

Another review of the cheap focalprice goggles! (LPM Heavy) *Updated with IR filters*

Re: Another review of the cheap focalprice goggles! (LPM Image Heavy) @Traveller, thanks for the kind words and rep :) I couldn't agree with you more on your whole post, certified laser goggles are definitely the way to go if you want sure protection against powerful lasers. As far as the...

    Name reference suggestion

Yeah I was referring to vBulletin, aka the system this forum uses for anyone who doesn't know. I do think it's a great idea though! (Although it would mainly be relevant to the elite vets, so I suppose it would be ideal if they would weigh in on this.)

    New items at NOVAlasers!

Oh I was not aware that they were sister sites; this logic makes a lot of sense then. +1 for the sensible and all-around informative post, I couldn't agree more with your "quality vs. price" summary.

    Youngest vet here?

Haha I've always wondered what goes on in that section...I would imagine a lot more nerdy laser talk and specs...and of course talking about all us lowly non-vet n00bxors ;)

    New items at NOVAlasers!

Yeah it was called the nova series, I don't remember the specific outputs but they still have it in the image on their site... But I guess they're not selling iit at the moment and only are selling pens? My best guess would be that they're in the process of retooling their product lines, and...

    Name reference suggestion

If this sort of feature isn't available to VB in a plugin then I'd think it would be rather difficult to implement, no?
  20. ninja_tux

    Youngest vet here?

I'm fairly certain he means by the forum's standards, which is 1000+ posts.
