Combining multiple laser beams (same wavelength)

Interesting discussion. Thought experiment: Perhaps a Brewster's angle setup could be used to combine two polarized beams using only a flat glass optic? One laser's beam would be directed at the glass at Brewster's angle with polarization parallel to the surface; this beam would be almost...

    Low risk Group Buys

First of all I would like to thank you for going through all of this. But I would like to know more about the trip to the U.S. from Canada. Wouldn't the lasers/parts have to be declared as such when crossing the border, and what if any risks are there? Thanks, T.

KW of laser required to cut through a giant redwood tree in one second?

Consider that a laser powerful enough to slice through a redwood tree would also heat and ionize the gaseous products from the cutting, if not the air itself, with resultant defocusing/degradation of the beam from thermal effects and absorption. Perhaps a better (if not far more time-consuming...

What is the wavelength of true brown?

"Brown" is just very dim orange. A pyro buddy of mine told me a story about a group discussion that started about the possibility of "brown" fireworks stars for aerial shells. There is no way to do it directly. The way it was finally achieved, someone built a shell with a mix of brilliant white...

This Is What a Laser From the Moon Looks Like (Photo)

You might consider running your 3W laser beam through another large telescope to recollimate/increase the beam diameter/decrease the divergence so as to produce the smallest "spot" possible at the Moon reflector. T.

CLOSED: ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

Re: CLOSED: Taking payments ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy! Got 'em yesterday (been playing with them :na: and not posting ;) ). NICE GREEN! LOVE this (515-520) color! Thanks for the tripod and diffraction caps. Most of all, kudos to Offroad and Kevin for another great GB! T.

CLOSED: ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

Re: CLOSED: Taking payments ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy! I got the text message about an hour ago, my lasers are to be delivered tomorrow!  Nice thing about the HL hosts in the above pics, that flat spot toward the back of the host is a perfect place for a strip...

Re: CLOSED: Taking payments ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy! Ditto that. I just hope I don't have to fill out accession forms - again. :na: T.

Emerald dust fireflies many twinkling dots DIY?

Ran across this interesting thread, I may have something to contribute toward the generation of "random" dots/sparkles. I have a jar of "Glowble Metalflake", a product intended to be added to transparent automotive finishes to give a sparkling appearance. It looks like glitter but the flake size...

So you thought Chinese lasers were safe?

Could one pass the beam of a suspect laser through a prism (preferably with the beam properly oriented at Brewster's angle ;) ), and then find and meter-measure the visible versus the IR component? Might be a good way to build a comparison library for all the different lasers out there. 2c, T.

    Chinese New Years warning

IMHO we need that kind of new year vacation here in the USofA - and with the firecrackers too! ;) T.

    UPDATED: G9 vs. G2 vs. 3-Element vs. Acrylic - A study

 For single line laser use shouldn't single-element lenses always be better than any three-element lens, which are built for chromatic correction across a wide band? Why use or even consider a three element lens except for multiple wavelengths? Thanks for the study - good info to...

Re: OPEN: Taking orders ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy! Thank YOU Offroad, for doing/keeping up these GBs!! I've been waiting on this wavelength range for a LONG time:wave:, can't wait to see it with the 445/450 and 405 from one of the previous buys. T.

    Osram PL450nm diode for Holography???

How do you get a long enough coherence length for holography from/using a diode laser? T.

How would an infinitely powerful laser act?

Just because it's a "necro" post doesn't mean the topic is absolutely closed for discussion? :o As for the poor infinitely powerful laser, it would instantly vanish in an infinitely powerful explosion. 2c, R.

    Laserbtb 515nm 5mw

FYI all, polarized laser beams are very efficiently reflected or refracted at transparent optical window surfaces depending on the polarization angle of incidence. See here: Brewster's angle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia If you have a laser with a polarized output it is relatively easy to...

    Laserbtb 515nm 5mw

Just reading this thread and came across your comment. Since the diode output is polarized, you would be able to employ a transparent "window" optic properly oriented in the beam of your 520 at/near Brewster's angle, changing the angle of incidence or rotating the laser on axis until you get a...
