Spent a weekend experimenting with stuffing M140s into pen hosts.

Oh OK then it's the osram diode Edit: after checking both diodes, both have 3 pins and no numbers on the case

Spent a weekend experimenting with stuffing M140s into pen hosts.

@Sumfinclever Im not sure since I might have mixed up 2 diodes while pressing them but it's either osram plt5450b or a sharp gh04580A2g bought on fleebay for 12 bucks each and the driver is the generic boost driver for 405-445-450nm. I have not tested run times and I also have the diodes running...

Spent a weekend experimenting with stuffing M140s into pen hosts.

I've been doing this to a lot of AAA pen lights. I bore out front enough to have the thread part fit through and the back half of a copper module works as a retaining ring/heatsink. I've probably done 4 different pen lights from home depot like this little husky single AAA flashlight and I did...

    4.4W 460nm by Lifetime17

I'm really liking these convoy hosts. Im having a really hard time holding back on buying more laser stuff but after having excellent dealings with forum members, there's no excuse not to buy more hosts and drivers to build my own lasers. Thanks for sharing and I can always recommend Rich for a...

    Streamlight Microstream Pen 450nm

I'll make a fully documented picture heavy post when I do. I'm a bit resourceful so many builds might not look pretty on the inside hahaha

    Streamlight Microstream Pen 450nm

Now that necroposting has been ruled out, awesome build BTG. I personally like these types of builds. I haven't tried more short hosts after the lumintop tool AAA but I did but a pair of thorfire pen flashlights and one was dead on arrival but I was hoping to sacrifice one for a laser build...

Minimal mod green 510nm diode laser build

That's a good idea, should keep me from hurting diodes and will make it easier for the next use as well

Solarforce L2E Build w/M462 (Pic Heavy)

I have an empty host like that from a cheap ebay headlamp I bought but was dead on arrival, still don't know how I'll manage but I'm getting lots of practice with these AAA flashlights I keep modding into lasers 😎👍

Minimal mod green 510nm diode laser build

@paul1598419 I didn't guess it, I just forgot what I set it to, I have build many of these modules with diode and drivers, same way just different lenses so I have a hard time remembering which one is what and what current was set to this one and that oneso sometimes I have a hard time...

Minimal mod green 510nm diode laser build

I do not remember the current I set for this driver but it is adjustable. And i don't have any way of measuring but my guess is somewhere between 40-70mW @TinLethax it did not fit perfectly. I was disappointed at first because my idea was to push the module from the inside but it was too...

Minimal mod green 510nm diode laser build

Yet again I am far from home traveling on the job, not bei g able to sleep. I've been working 15 minutes away from the Mexican border since Monday, I brought lasers to entertain myself but Its not enough if I'm not trying to fit a laser into something lol. Here, at a Walmart I found a small...

    Red Boolit

Super awesome build! 😎👍 I'm all for small keychain and pen lasers! Thanks for sharing, I might try one of these builds soon

Green 200mW ~510nm my mini first mod

Yeah that can work. The copper host I'm using is a LUMINTOP tool AAA in copper, the one that has a nichia LED

Solarforce L2E Build w/M462 (Pic Heavy)

Awesome build BTG. I have been wanting to do the same but with a smaller flashlight in the headlamp style with a single 18650 but it's a tough one to do in that shape lol

First 450nm penlight built from salvaged components

I've got to try one of these hosts for a pocket build. I love these low to medium power pocket poibters. Looks great buddy! Awesome work and thanks for sharing

    Unusual beam pattern

I see it on my 488, 505, 515, 520, I'ts probably an internal reflection because I have my lasers using 3 element glass lenses and they are less noticeable in some then the others. It might be due to the quality of the antireflective coating

Beautiful blue Lifetime17 host for PLTB450b

Welcome to LPF buddy. If a host is all you need then Rich is the man you are looking for! I put together the diode and module then added a driver and all I had to do then was solder the driver to the wire leads and place it in the host and tighten the set screw and done. He makes really great...

    Pen Laser Thread

Update on the pen laser! Added an led indicator like I've seen done Only difference is that I used an smd LED and the center piece of a transparent/translucent tail switch cover as a button since this stuff absorbs light like crazy and likes to glow with the flow

    Laserlands 520nm 5mW, comparison with 532nm?

This is exactly what I was referring to. In 532 I see yellow glowing around the green dot on the wall and when I move it around, it seems like there's and after image of yellow. Also I can see a "grain" to the light output while the direct diodes have a smoother light output both unfocused to a...

Solid Brass 638nm - Code Name "Frankie" (Pic Heavy)!

It completely went over my head.. Sometimes (by that I mean a lot of times) my brain wants to say some things that my mouth is not fast enough or doesn't understand and makes it up along the way not really getting the point across... Anyways I'll leave things as they are, ill let me...
