I am not a professional photographer by any means but... You must make sure that you are shooting where there are no city lights. Also, if there is a lot of smog/pollution then you will not be able to get a good shot. Two people that I know could help would be Nikokapo and EMC2. -Mike

Your best bet is building one, or having one built by one of our members. There are no "good" focusable bluray lasers available. Olike etc sells them but I highly suggest a DIY type build for a bluray. A PHR build set around 120mW will run you about $100 in a high quality host with all high...

Welcome to the forum! First off, the o-like waterproof model is 200mW IIRC, not 500mW. You can light matches with a very well focused 30mW bluray. Power doesn't always mean everything! Focusing the beam down to a pinpoint is far more important for burning. Olike is a very trusted site...

The rkcstr driver is a linear design and converts excess power into heat. It is not uncommon for these to get very very hot. The driver does not need to be heatsinked. SMD components are very tough! They go through ovens over 500F to reflow the solder. -Mike
