    Are we DOOMED

Today is Friday the 13th, this could be it. Don't go anywhere today unless you have to! Alan

Yes I have to agree, so many way to early. Alan

The Laser Safety Checklist - Be aware of your environment

One more thing to add, when inserting batteries and screwing on the tailcap be sure the laser is pointed in a safe direction. Twice I have had a laser turn on when not expecting it while screwing on the tailcap, both happened the first time using the laser, but be careful I can imagine a bad...

    10440 Battery vs. AAA?

Yes you need new batteries, an AAA is not enough to power your laser, you will also need a charger and you will need to charge the battery before use as Li-Ion/Li-Mn usually ship uncharged. They are 3.7V but charge to 4.2V, AAA are only 1.5V. Those Trustfire you linked to aren't considered one...

Can a >5mW laser be bought in the US?

Another option is to buy parts and assemble one yourself, there are no restrictions on the parts, also they are legal to own but there are some restrictions on how you can use them outside. Lab lasers (not battery powered) of any strength can still be imported. Alan

    Custom laser goggles?

Wow these look good, several red and green filters. Someone needs to buy these and test them though before we trust them, they aren't high priced so I wouldn't immediately just trust them. Alan

    Osram PL520 520nm

I have done one build with one of these and I am very pleased with it, still working good after more than two years. http://laserpointerforums.com/f45/pl520-build-1-3-lasers-very-pic-heavy-88336.html#top It has a very visible beam in dim lighting, mine does 82mW with an acrylic lens, a 3...

What music does LPF listen to?

Well it has been 18 days since Prince passed on and no one has said anything yet, I guess you are mostly all too young to remember him or think much of him, he was one of the most prolific artists of our time releasing one album a year for 39 years and supposedly has a huge amount of unrecorded...

    LPF Slow to Respond Lately?

I have the same problem from time to time, has been happening off and on for a long time, sometimes frequently for several days and then stops. I use Verizon wireless. Alan

    Image size in your posts.

I also use Photobucket, it has editing features built in including the ability to resize, so do several other photo hosting sites, it's not very difficult. There are many different devices people use to access the Internet these days, you all need to be aware of this when posting images. Do you...

What are the best science fiction movies?

Ok back to Donald Pleasence as I mentioned a few days ago. I think I may have posted this or something from the movie in another thread long ago but not in this thread. This is from 1966 and was one of the best movies ever up until that time. I'll come back later with another SciFi movie he...

    Are we DOOMED

It's no joke, I have been in a devastating earthquake and I have even been one of the few to see the eye of a huricane (next time if there is one I would evacuate) I wasn't too far from the water and the storm surge was something like 20 feet.:wtf: If something worse is comming I want to know...

    Condolences for member ONVI

Am sorry for your loss, I remember when my father passed on in 1992. You made a comment to me related to this in another thread. I have something more I want to say, I'll take it to PM later tomorrow. Alan

    Hello, newbie here...

 The name Skans suggests that you may be an accountant and are from Pakistan, but by your last post I get the impression you are in the U.S. You may want to add a location to your profile, this is a very international forum with active members in at least 45 countries, also more people...

Is my lense dirty or scratched?

That can cover a wide range and requires more explanation than I can do at the moment, things like pressing a diode into a module, or pressing a round driver into the pill and soldering it, soldering wires or a driver directly to a diode and wires to the driver or contact board. There are...

Is my lense dirty or scratched?

It's hard to find a true 150mW 532nm module. I strongly recommend a 150mW 520nm, it won't break if you drop it and won't be temprature sensitive like a 532nm. You can't tell the difference in color unless viewing side by side. It would cost more though and I don't know about shipping costs to...

Is my lense dirty or scratched?

Oh well then you are taking some risk then, how much I don't know, we have a few members in Australia and they do manage to get lasers, but if you can build one from parts then you are safe, the parts will make it through. We have a member here SyKo in Australia who sells a few parts but I...
