    Noob question about drivers

I have an X-Drive 1.8amp driver that I planned on using with a 2 cell blue 2w blue laser. But I believe that the driver only cares about current, not so much voltage. So if I use this same 1.8amp driver with a single cell can I use it for a 1W red laser? Looking at DTR's pictures it looks...

    BatteryPowerForum potential startup

Will do. I'm just a college student, so I'll wait until payday (Thursday) until I do anything. Hopefully I can get a domain registered. Any recommendations? what do you like better? batterypowerforums.com batterypoweredforums.com any other suggestions?

    BatteryPowerForum potential startup

Thanks! Any ideas of who to ask for donations/ad space? Maybe FourSevens, FenixStore... what other companies might be interested in supporting a battery forum?

    BatteryPowerForum potential startup

Thanks for the feedback, I will get working on that this week. The only problem is finding a way to raise the money for vBulletin. Do you think it would be OK to start off the forum using some free forum software so users can get acquainted and then maybe donate?

    BatteryPowerForum potential startup

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about starting up a "BatteryPowerForum.com" but I would like to see who would be interested. I know there are a lot of good places online for battery information, but I think that batteries are so broad that a forum just for them would be useful. Let me know if...

    Laser laws in Arizona

Well, being a private pilot, myself, I would never think of pointing a laser at a plane. I'm currently going to school at Embry Riddle, and there's almost always an airplane flying over. The school is literally under the traffic pattern for one of the runways. On a different note, I have...

How can I waterproof a laser?

I also see a problem with air not being able to make it behind the lens. If there's a vacuum back there it will probably change focus on it's own... Might make for less heat though.

How can I waterproof a laser?

I would like to start selling lasers for some college income. Building them is not to challenging since all of the parts needed (host, driver, diode, heatsink, etc.) can be found pre-manufactured. Before I start "mass producing" lasers I would like to know if there is any way that an...

    1.1W 635nm Build in a Fenix TK35 Host using the "ML501P73" diode

That is one nice host! Did you buy the light just for that? Or was it a defective one that was going to be scraped regardless? I would live to see a laser in a TK41 host. Powered by 8x AA.

    Laser laws in Arizona

What is a "laser pointer" would anything handheld be considered a laser pointer? Also, what about selling high power (2W+) lasers in Arizona?

    Where to get heatsink machined?

I decided to order one of Sinner's hosts instead... I just couldn't resist. I'll definitely keep your shop in mind for future builds. I hope to start building and selling to get some income in college. Do you do any job? Or just heatsinks and such? Thanks again to everyone for the names...

    SALE: MS-V4 18650 Custom Host - Square II - $45.00 FREE Shipping

You should make a body extension for this that would allow the use of 2x 18650 batteries for 2cell usage. It could screw in between the end-cap and the current body. I would pay $20 for that, I'm not sure about other people.

    SALE: MS-V4 18650 Custom Host - Square II - $45.00 FREE Shipping

I'll take one! Can I please get the 18650 version? This is my first time buying from a forum. Do I just have to send you $45 PayPal?

    Where to get heatsink machined?

Well, I don't mind if it's done by hand. I couldn't do it by hand, that's why CNC machining it was the first thing that came to mind. I am a college freshman, and unfortunately we are not allowed to use the machine shop for personal projects. Is it common for members to make parts for other...

    Where to get heatsink machined?

I am working on my first good quality build. I am planning on making a 2W 445nm build in a large 18650 host. This is the host I am using: TrustFire XML C8-T6 5-Mode CREE LED 1000 Lumen Flashlight. I plan on CADing the heatsink with Inventor. I don't have access to a CNC lathe (or hand...

    Threading Aixiz module into host

I'm a little confused... Do you make tools? Yeah, I am an astro engineer student at embry, and private pilot right now. Hoping to transfer to the air force academy though.

    Threading Aixiz module into host

Thanks so much for that! I even asked the Aixiz ebay store and they never got back to me. I am west coast, but I should be able to get the bit and tap no problem at a local store. Soldering them is a good idea. This laser will probably have an output of about .8watts, but I don't expect to...

Use of Silver for a Heatsink?

I think that most lasers under 5 watts should be just fine in a well machines copper heat sink. If you're doing something like trying to melt the planet than you might want to consider Ag. :)

    Threading Aixiz module into host

I am working on an ultra compact build of mine. I am using a 445nm diode using abour 1.5amps from an Litium-Magnesium 14500 battery. Since the build is so small I would like to thread the Aixiz heatsink into my the heatsink I made for my host instead of press fitting it as I've done in the...

Will adding a capacitor help my problem?

It is not a boost driver. It is a very minimalist driver (I did not make it myself) - it has a 3 to 5 volt range, so I can't use 2 lithium cells It's not the cell that is stopping the laser because I am using an IMR cell that can really supply like crazy for how small it is (not to mention...
