Typical configuration of the regulator circuit?

    Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

What was the setting resistance for your driver? I'm going to guess you weren't actually putting out regulated current. The driver will continue to put out current below the dropout voltage, but it will not be regulated, meaning it will continue to drop in current as voltage drops.

    What's wrong with LED Drivers?

Yeah, sorry, I meant switching ICs for boost/buck/etc. The linear ICs like the LM317, LM1117 etc typically are pretty stable. For my driver, for example, it just needed some capacitors added in various places to suppress noise and oscillation, improve stability, etc.

    What's wrong with LED Drivers?

As Dave said, the LED drivers are not designed to be as "clean" as what we expect for laser drivers. They may produce more voltage spikes at on/off, poor current regulation and more. But, that's not to say they won't work or there may not be one that wouldn't have those problems. However, we...

Now offering current setting on my V3 driver for $3.00 ($2.70 after discount). Just select 'Yes' for Preset Current and put in the value you would like set to in the box below.

I'm doin just fine :) The last of school is much better than the others. I'm done with interviews now, so just have to wait until March to find out where I'm headed for the next 4 years. My specialty will be neurology, however my fiancee is emergency med.

Thank you! And, yes, they're pretty simple fixes, but I don't have time to go through and repair them all myself. And, otherwise, they just sit on my desk doing nothing, so I figured I'd sell em cheap just to clear it up.

    Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

Also, for anyone who wants some cheap drivers that just require a little solder work, I have some of my "imperfect" drivers to sell. I have a pile of them on my desk that I just want to get rid of: Set 1: 15x older type 12V max input V3 drivers Most just have some parts that are out of place...

It's an idiom. Never heard it before? People say it after giving their opinion, which it is meant to mean that its just their "small contribution" to a conversation, suggesting it may not be worth much as a sign of humility. My two cents (idiom) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Anyway...

    Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

I agree! Unfortunately, the availability of ICs suitable for use in a current source for a laser driver is rather limited at this time. There are a lot of ones out there for LEDs, but they tend to have a lot of ripple/noise or regulation isn't very good, etc, that makes them unsuitable for...

    Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

I'm not familiar with the circuit, not to mention, it would be unfair of me to just "steal" it. But, I'm open to working with others on development of a new driver. I don't get enough free time to do it myself, but I would really like to produce an improved driver.

Post your car spec and pictures

My new ride 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T Spyder. Turbocharged 2.0L 4 cylinder engine, rated 210hp factory at 9-11psi. I'm running around 22psi boost :D Has the typical supporting mods, upgraded turbo, suspension, etc. Put in a double-DIN Eclipse brand navigation with some nice Boston...

Don't be afraid, they'll snap apart! Just one in your right and one in your left and bend. The components won't break and you won't break the PCB. I snap them apart by hand, no special technique or tool. It just helps prevent them from being damaged during shipping by keeping them flat.

I use a company here in the US for my PCBs. Whether they're expensive is relative. for me, they are cheap as I had enough made for 5000 drivers for under $500. But, if you just need a small amount, it's likely not as cost effective. There are some places online that can do prototype boards for...

What is your claim to Fame?

My fiancee's grandmother is a second cousin or some distant relative of Jerry Stiller (Ben Stiller's dad).

    Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

I just realized an error on my site and I apologize to those of you who may have wanted to purchase a driver but were confused to find them more expensive than you thought. I accidentally updated the wrong item when they sold out, which happened to be my old driver. I just found the error and...

Radioactive rabbit trapped, killed at nuclear reservation

If a rabbit can become that contaminated by "sipping" some water from the building, I hate to see what is seeping into the ground water

Having a child while being one yourself?

It's possible in a young girl who begins puberty early. Most begin at around 11 years and are typically not capable of becoming pregnant until 12-13 years. But, if she started around 8-9 years, it's quite possible she could be pregnant at 10 years. However, the idea that a 10 year old girl...

Reciving money as gift with Paypal

By that logic, how is it banks can offer free checking accounts, even with no minimum balance or spending amount, etc? It is because you give them capital for investment. Same with Paypal. They use the credit you give them by having them hold onto your money to make investments and pay their...
