Review of the Directly-Injected 505nm Bluish-Green ("Mint Green") Laser Pen

Re: Review of the Directly-Injected 505nm Bluish-Green Laser Pen I made the grave error of purchasing a small (16 fl. oz.) bottle of MD 20/20 back in 1989; my first slug of it was also my last! I spat that $#!7 out the window and flushed the rest of it down the fvk¡n6 toliet. :( That stuff...

Review of the Directly-Injected 505nm Bluish-Green ("Mint Green") Laser Pen

Re: Review of the Directly-Injected 505nm Bluish-Green Laser Pen I have champagne taste, but a MD 20/20 budget. :( I do indeed have two computers, but the hardware display chipset in one of them (both computers are laptops) is fuxxored; I can only use that computer in times of extreme...

Review of the Directly-Injected 505nm Bluish-Green ("Mint Green") Laser Pen

Re: Review of the Directly-Injected 505nm Bluish-Green Laser Pen Spectrographic analysis of this laser after 25 minutes of continuous operation (laser was not neutralised before taking this spectrum) My CEM DT-8810 Noncontact IR Thermometer is not capable of measuring the temperature of...

Review of the Directly-Injected 505nm Bluish-Green ("Mint Green") Laser Pen

Re: Review of the Directly-Injected 505nm Bluish-Green Laser Pen I'll have to spectro it after 20 or 30 minutes of continuous operation (without first deactivating it). I have another stability analysis of the 488nm laser running right now; when that test is complete, I'll get my...

Review of the Directly-Injected 488nm Greenish-Blue Laser Pen

The lens assembly came OEM as part of the laser. FYI the lens housing is black if that means anything; whether this is a stock lens assembly or a custom-made one just for this series of laser is simply not known.

Review of the Directly-Injected 488nm Greenish-Blue Laser Pen

I can't tell for certain just by looking at the lens in the bezel; it could be a multi-element, or it could be just an acromat or even a simple DCX. :p

Review of the Directly-Injected 505nm Bluish-Green ("Mint Green") Laser Pen

Re: Review of the Directly-Injected 505nm Bluish-Green Laser Pen I performed the spectroscopy at least a full day after the battery test; the LD would have most certainly been at room temperature by then. So this spectrographic analysis shows a PERMANENT wavelength drift; not a temporary...

Review of the Directly-Injected 488nm Greenish-Blue Laser Pen

The LPM is thermal, not photoelectric; using my 1st generation Mark VII eyeballs, the laser appears to reach full output as soon as the switch is closed (well, within a few µS anyway) but with the type of LPM that I used, the measurement takes 30 to 40 seconds while the thermopile increases in...

Review of the Directly-Injected 488nm Greenish-Blue Laser Pen

That would have hella sucked; I guess random chance appears to have operated in my favour (luck was on my side) here. :D

Review of the Directly-Injected 488nm Greenish-Blue Laser Pen

Actually, I understood your point perfectly. I state in my review (and I quote): "...the heatsinking of the laser diode is either quite excellent or very lousy; though considering that the output power remains relatively stable, I'd go for "quite excellent"." I knew full well that...

Review of the Directly-Injected 488nm Greenish-Blue Laser Pen

I monitored it very closely both for case temperature and laser output; had the case temperature risen too much or if the power output inexplicably dropped, you bet your sweet patootie that I'd have halted the test PRONTO!!! I'm running the same analyses of the 505nm laser right now; I'm...

    Directly-injected orange-yellow diode lasers soon?

Yes, you heard that correctly folks! This article in Laser Focus World magazine's July 2018 issue is what us laserists dream about!!! An orange-yellow (599 to 605nm) directly-injected laser diode will allow for laser radiation in this part of the spectrum to be generated directly, without the...
