Are there any greens with glass optics?

50mw of 635? Hell to the yeah

    9V killed my PHR =[

A PHR would need at least 7V with a rkcstr driver, IIRC. The driver probably wasn't getting enough voltage for proper regulation, hence the sporadic burning. When you hooked up the 9V, the driver kicked things in the ass, and started pumping out whatever amperage it was set to (probably way too...

Are there any greens with glass optics?

I love green lasers, but the cheaper ones usually come with acrylic lenses. This is sort of okay, until you try to clean them and scratch the crap out of them. Aixiz glass and Jayrob lenses have spoiled me on acrylic. Are there any greens out there that use glass? Preferably AR coated, of...

    RCKSTR V3 on a 9V battery

There seems to be some confusion. There are two main pre-fab drivers that we use. One is rkcstr's microdrive, and one is Dr. Lava's FlexDrive Which one do you have? Since you already set the current with a test load, I'm guessing rkcstr, correct? The Flexdrive dies @ > 5.5v. If you...

Bird Scarer, help & advice, please

Pretty much. I'd appreciate it if they talked it over first, but yeah, around here, nuisance animals get shot. A couple years ago, we knocked off two possums and a skunk on Christmas (the skunk was a mistake. Honestly, who shoots a skunk with a shotgun? Even a dumb city boy like me knows you put...

    Phr build!!

Glad you got it lasing As to the way it looks, Blu Ray is strange. 405nm is right on the fringe of visibility for most (some?) people. I'd venture to say that everyone sees it differently. Myself, I see a halo around the dot, unless I'm looking at it from very close range. Also, the halo is...

Bird Scarer, help & advice, please

Birds are immune to chili peppers. They can munch habaneros all day and feel fine. DO NOT poison ANYTHING. Seriously, poisoning is about the most hideous way to kill a creature. I'm not one of those animal rights lunatics (I'd have shot, shoveled and shut up by now,) but you've got to have a...

this is why IR filter is SOOOO important!

Off Topic Just wanted to say, I rather enjoy English lesson tangents, especially when they so well explain what I know, but have difficulty expressing (the difference between sarcasm and irony,) /off topic

A coworker of mine picked that up when he was working for Xerox, and I modified it a bit to include lasers. As the story goes, a Xerox veteran told that to said coworker and a FNG (F*cking New Guy,) They knew they were in trouble when the FNG said, "Wow, really? What kind of smoke?"

    Phr build!!

Actually, I'd sand it before I tried to cut it. Like with a little fine sand paper on some plate glass. The older version of the Flex drive needed such treatment to fit it in a module. Anyway, probably best not to screw with it, since it would mean desoldering the driver.

    'GODMODE' for windows 7 users

This is pretty sick:) Seems I find a new reason to like 7 every day. Thanks!

    Anyone here is audiophile?

I don't have audiophile passion, but I appreciate nice equipment. I use Shure E4s and an 80 gig RockBoxed ipod. I might pick up a nice amp someday, just for curiosity's sake.

    Another Build Failure

Glad to hear you're getting back on the horse. I'd recommend that you practice tinning pieces of wire before you get to the real thing, to give you a feel for how your solder melts and flows. As mentioned above, pre-tin every connection. That way, you just have to place the wire on the diode...

    Phr build!!

I'd suggest that you either drill out the end of the module, or cut it off. Really, the only advantage is a bit of protection for the driver. Did you mount the driver completely flush with the top part of the module? When I did my fist one, there was absolutely no extra space. Also, you might...

    Phr build!!

I set my first PHR at 150ma, and it lasted a good long while (2 months frequent usage.) My current one is set at 140ma. I know it'll probably die sooner, but I have a spare.

    LD Driver help plz

Re: LD Driver help What's the laser diode? 26ma is pretty low; it might be below the threshold current for your diode.

    Phr build!!

With the case pin to the right, the positive pin will be on top. Hope it goes well. It's a special moment when you hook up the wires and see that beautiful violet light for the first time. Welcome to the obsession:)
