Review of the 980P-100-BL 980nm Laser Pen

BTTT: Added a beam terminus photograph using the inbuilt camera in my UDI U12A R/C Camera Helicopter.

Review of the 980P-100-BL 980nm Laser Pen

BTTT: Added a photo of the beam terminus spot widened to help show beam details; this pic is in leiu of a beam cross-sectional analysis as the beam cross-sectional analyser was destroyed by a direct lightning strike in late-July 2013.

Review of the 980P-100-BL 980nm Laser Pen

BTTT: Added a beam terminus photograph on a wall at ~2 feet (~0.6096 meters); using my Vivitar DVR 748HD Digital Still/Video Camera

    Wicked Lasers Lunar and Inferno

Sorry about the necropost, but this appears to be fairly important. Wicked Lasers is under new ownership, and will no longer ship lasers over 5 mW to the United States starting on 01-01-2015. They're also working on stopping shipment of > 5 mW lasers to other countries...

Review of the 980P-100-BL 980nm Laser Pen

Thank you for the +rep! :) Unfortunately, the longest wavelength my Ocean Opticas USB2000 spectrometer can resolve is 874nm, so the 980nm output as the primary laser line is too deep into the IR for me to capture. The Ocean Optics PC2000-ISA spectrometer I used to have could have done this...

    Confirmed cheap multi-line 980nm/490nm pen

Re: Possible cheap 2-line 980nm/490nm pen I have spectrographically confirmed the existence of the ~490nm line -- and yes, it's a narrowband laser line! Spectrographic analysis of the 490nm line. Spectrographic analysis of the 490nm line; spectrometer's response narrowed to a band between...

Review of the 980P-100-BL 980nm Laser Pen

BTTT: Added a photograph of the laser irradiating a wall at ~2' using the camera built into my Air Hogs Hawk Eye Blue Sky R/C Airplane with Onboard Camera; also confirmed existence of 490nm line via spectroscopy.

Review of the 980P-100-BL 980nm Laser Pen

BTTT: Performed spectroscopy of fluorescence of the active area of an anti-Stokes NIR detector card when irradiated with this laser.

Review of the 980P-100-BL 980nm Laser Pen

980P-100-BL 980nm Laser Pen, retail $13.30 Manufactured by (Unknown) Last updated 05-16-15 The 980P-100-BL 980nm Laser Pen (hereinafter, probably just called a, "laser pen" or simply a, "laser") is a rather unique product when it comes to portable lasers. It outputs a primary beam of laser...

    Confirmed cheap multi-line 980nm/490nm pen

Re: Possible cheap 2-line 980nm/490nm pen I checked both last night and this morning; the weak secondary emission is visible as a cyan (blue-green) dot (not grey) on a white surface in a darkened area; it also has significantly higher divergence than the primary 980nm beam does. The beam...

    Confirmed cheap multi-line 980nm/490nm pen

Re: Possible cheap 2-line 980nm/490nm pen That's the aperture -- 'looking down the barrel' as it were.

    Confirmed cheap multi-line 980nm/490nm pen

Re: Possible cheap 2-line 980nm/490nm pen I just obtained photographic evidence of the ~490nm laser emission. To wit: I used the NIR filter assembly from my yellow DPSS laser; however, since this filter ass'y also contains the collimating lens, I'm not able to use it for performing...

    Confirmed cheap multi-line 980nm/490nm pen

Re: Possible cheap 2-line 980nm/490nm pen A ? for everybody: Does anybody have a NIR filter that I can borrow so that I may attempt spectroscopy on the very weak~490 nm laser line? I found my 473 nm DPSS laser, but the section containing its NIR filter was nowhere to be found. :( I have...

    Confirmed cheap multi-line 980nm/490nm pen

Re: Possible cheap 2-line 980nm/490nm pen Just wanted to let everybody know that I received this laser today -- and yes, the 490nm line is visible. I can't perform any spectroscopy though until I find my 473nm blue DPSS laser that has an easily-removeable NIR filter.

    Confirmed cheap multi-line 980nm/490nm pen

Re: Possible cheap 2-line 980nm/490nm pen Here is an example of NIR radiation activating the phosphor of an anti-Stokes IR detector card: 4FNnYFI7ec8 After 3 minutes, you'll see the IR detector card being irradiated by NIR laser radiation at ~808nm.

    Confirmed cheap multi-line 980nm/490nm pen

Re: Possible cheap 2-line 980nm/490nm pen Not wierd; what you're probably seeing is anti-Stokes fluorescence. In this type of fluorescence, a longer wavelength causes fluorescence to occur at shorter wavelengths. Some types of chemo-optical IR detector cards (specifically, the kind that...
