Re: Review of the Skytech 520nm Class IV Green Portable Laser
BTTT: Repeated stability analysis cum battery discharge analysis at minimum power output using a different cell ("battery").
I'm going to run it a third time using a protected 18650 cell.

BTTT: Performed stability analysis cum battery discharge analysis at minimum power output.
I'm going to re-run both analyses.
The first because I bumped something and queered the test approx. two minutes in.
The second with a...

Re: Review of the Skytech 520nm Class IV Green Portable Laser
Yes, I had the bezel tightened as far as I could without tools; the beam divergence still looked a bit high to me, but nothing to shit myself over.
Re: Review of the Skytech 520nm Class IV Green Portable Laser
The beam terminus image bloomed significantly on both of the indoor photographs -- much more so in the second which was made with the laser emitting almost one watt.
Let's see here...white paper...1 watt...cheap camera...you...

BTTT: Performed multiple repeat power output analyses and current usage measurements of this laser.
Re: Review of the Skytech 520nm Class IV Green Portable Laser
Under the admittedly extreme circumstance of running the laser with cells hot off the charger, the following measurement was taken:
Laser temperature when using two cells after five minutes (in violation of the duty cycle...
Re: Review of the Skytech 520nm Class IV Green Portable Laser
I just performed temperature measurements.
Laser temperature when using two cells after five minutes (in violation of the duty cycle recommendation) was 89°F (31.7°C) with an ambient temperature of 66°F (18.9°C).
I'll re-run this...
Re: Review of the Skytech 520nm Class IV Green Portable Laser
Good afternoon Cyparagon,
Thank you so very much for your thumbs-up on my review!
I just now added four current usage measurements ((One cell): 0.954mA quiecent, 80.30mA when lasing. (Two cells): 2.732mA quiescent, 2.042A when...

I've taken note that the Wicked Lasers Spyder III series of lasers (the directly-injected ones anyway) also suffer from some beam vignetting, but I don't think it is 20% like your laser exhibits.
+1 rep! :thanks:
Sounds to me like it's a variation of quasi-CW operation rather than being true CW.
If you have a solar cell and an oscilloscope, you ought to be able to determine if its true CW or quasi-CW very easily.
