    BDR-209 burn out?

Retries at this price range are something I am unfortunately used to. Killed 3 ~700mw 635nm diodes in a row before giving up and deciding to buy one pre-built. Hopefully a solid half back and a dollop of decent thermal compound will save me from that fate with violet.

    BDR-209 burn out?

A BDR-209 diode I recently ordered died after a few minutes of use. When I was troubleshooting the problem, I noticed that the copper module module could get notably hotter then the aluminum heatsink. I did not use the back end for the module due to space constraints, and I didn't use thermal...

    Introducing: me

You could get something from here: https://www.survivallaserusa.com/Safety_Goggles/cat1667093_1527285.aspx International site: https://www.survivallaser.com/Safety_Goggles/cat556089_826120.aspx They filter more then just IR though.

NEW TOOL: Calculate Relative Brightness (of Wavelengths in nm)

Sure, you can do whatever with it.

Laser beam brightness vs wavelength: Seeking personal experiences

My current thoughts about corrections for lower powers: Its probably not necessary for dots, as the are pretty bright even at low powers. But for low power beams in clean air, assume they are seen with mesopic vision. Dark rooms are well into the mesopic range after all, and you won't have much...

NEW TOOL: Calculate Relative Brightness (of Wavelengths in nm)

You've probably seen this by now, but I threw together a replacement https://laserpointerforums.com/threads/replacement-tool-relative-laser-brightness-calculator-open-source-edition.105112/

REPLACEMENT TOOL: Relative Laser Brightness Calculator (Open Source Edition)

I might do that in the future. It wouldn't be too hard, but work on this will be very on-and-off.

Laser beam brightness vs wavelength: Seeking personal experiences

I've been thinking of adding a toggleable 'fudge factor' to the calculator to compensate for things like that. I just need to get enough data to make a reasonable adjustment curve, there wouldn't be much point to it if it makes it even more inaccurate.

REPLACEMENT TOOL: Relative Laser Brightness Calculator (Open Source Edition)

rhd hasn't been seen in a while, and his laser calculator has been down as well, so I decided to cobble together a replacement for the community (and myself). I made this in a few hours as a personal project, so its fairly simplistic. Its open source and uses GitHub as a host, so it should be...

SELL all my custom laser and host

All of them are sold? Seems like I was a bit too slow on the draw, I was eying those reds. I'm glad your sale went well.

Can someone help put me in contact with RHD?

I'll add on that anyone is free to host the webpage or add it to their site. I don't have a place to stick it at the moment. Edit: Found a host - https://slickscreen.github.io/laser-tools/brightness/

Can someone help put me in contact with RHD?

It should work in both of those situations. You just need to open index.html to run it.

Can someone help put me in contact with RHD?

Here's a clunky version of the website I scraped together this afternoon

532nm 50mw laser. Not 50mw of 532nm light. Is that normal?

The power rating should just count the green, but cheap 532nm lasers tend to leak a lot of IR and have questionably accurate ratings. I hear that 30-80mw of green light is a common range for them. That particular LPM seems sketchy too, so the readings should be taken with a grain of salt.

    Sharp GH04W10A2GC 350mW 405nm

You could always use the good ol' cd and tape measure trick to figure out its true wavelength.

Better thread engagement for the longer focal length lenses sounds nice. Are you planning on selling what you machine?

Help with 8a driver and load

This may not be true for meters that aren't dirt-cheap, but my little LCR meter can be over 1V off of a diodes Vf at higher currents. You'll probably want to test it under load, and maybe take a gander at the datasheet.

Need help selecting a plano-convex cylindrical lens (beam correction)...

You could trying buying a lens like this and shift it around until the beam axes roughly match https://www.ebay.com/itm/263682747045 Disclaimer: I am no optics expert

Are the chinese blue lasers in any way a bad idea?
