It is helpful in some situations having to use the built in charger (like if you forgot to bring a charger with you) but yes, I still pop the battery out of my P25 when I charge the battery since the internal circuit charges to about 4.15V and the i4 charges to 4.20V.

I believe he is measuring the voltage across the dummy load resistor hence it is 1A per 1V. The oscillation is 6250Hz. (1/(0.8div*200us)) it is pretty low to be the switching frequency but rather high to be due to voltage drop of the battery which led me to believe it was something to do with...

following from what rhd just said, it can also be that the wires between your power source and the driver dropping too much voltage.
