First completed build! And a learning experience

I just souped this laser up with a G2 lens to replace the 2E-G and thought I'd add some more pics: The intense green beam lights up the entire sky on camera! Focused to infinity at about 100 ft. Makes a massive splash on the fence. Thanks for the lens Gary!

    Newbie get duped?

I've been using Nitecore 18350s (assuming you meant 18350 and not 18340) and they charge very quickly given that you use their i4 Charger. They definitely add a bit of output power compared to the stock no-name batteries that these Chinese sellers provide. Good choice going with a Lifetime17...

    Newbie get duped?

I hope you're trolling at this point... nearly $300 for a cheaply made Chinese piece of junk? "Strongest Powerful Military Grade" yeah... do not buy that

    Newbie get duped?

Probably wouldn't be difficult, although I'd recommend against a 5-7w laser for your first build. It's just too powerful. My first was a 1W 520nm green and even that's almost too scary, especially given that a "true" 1W green is unheard of in that "gatling laser" market. You have to use an...

    High Level Heatsink Design

Large with grooves like Lifetime17 posted would be ideal. Ideally it would be made of copper. Get a thicker flashlight host to be able to hold larger batteries and I think you'll be able to make it work.

    Another knuckle head

Unfortunately a lot of idiots get their hands on lasers. Slightly unrelated, but if you go on youtube, almost everybody who is making videos about those cheap Chinese chrome case style lasers should not be in possession of them. Case in point: This guy straight up shines the laser at a wall...

    Newbie get duped?

Can vouch for Lifetime17 builds as being some very high quality hardware, he got me a really nicely machined copper heatsink and focus adapter with flashlight host for a very good price. All you have to do is drop the diode + driver in. I sent over an email to that Chinese seller telling him...

    Buying a red laser pointer

I've done a cursory search for that model RLF18130 and everything I'm finding is from about a decade ago. It may be hard for you to find because it's possible it may not be manufactured anymore? I'm not sure. Any reason you're set on that particular model? There are many other ways to get a...

    Buying a red laser pointer

Sanwu and Survival Laser are good choices for you, they can both send you finished lasers to Poland. Sanwu has more sleek hosts while SL is more rugged looking for the most part. I've personally built a nice 1W green laser using SL parts :) Good luck!

    Need suggestions

Why are there so many threads on this topic? I wouldn't use any, you could blind the poor goose. Just chase them down like everyone else. Welcome btw :)

    Buying a red laser pointer

Hey Peter, I wouldn't trust most online resellers. They will sell you low quality hardware that will break eventually along with diodes that were harvested from heavily used equipment. The best option would be to research the individual components of handheld lasers and make your own build. You...

    Hello from (near) Pittsburgh..

Welcome, I've recently caught the bug too. that NDG7475 is insane isn't it? I've got a G2 lens coming for mine, when I originally built it I got a 2E-G as it was the cheapest option and didn't really research lenses. Tried the G2 from my 2W blue while I was repairing it on my 520nm and it's...

Where do you guys store your lasers?

I know this is an old thread and I apologize for the necrobump... Just wanted to give other potentially new members an idea as I have just commandeered this old case that I forgot the original contents of. Added some acoustic foam and it perfectly and safely fits my S4 and 501B. I thought this...

    Is Sanwulasers a scam?

Then build your own laser. Outside of Sanwu, there are very few reputable companies who make completed lasers you can get shipped to the USA.

What happens if they confiscate your laser?

I'd recommend this route. You can get a diode from DTR and a host/heatsink from a variety of sources on here (check the sticky) and have a customized laser that you assembled yourself for well under $200 with nothing going through customs. All you need is a soldering iron, safety glasses, and...

    Ultrafire 501B/Lifetime17 Cu Heatsink x Osram PLTB450B

Thanks for the positivity! I'm sure the next one will be fine and last a long time.

    Ultrafire 501B/Lifetime17 Cu Heatsink x Osram PLTB450B

Here you go, I'm not sure how much help it will be as I don't have the tools to remove the diode from the module as well as the crappy picture quality:

    Ultrafire 501B/Lifetime17 Cu Heatsink x Osram PLTB450B

I've got the G2 lens from DTR. For reference here's that LED-like output. Not so great but if it was thudded somewhere accidentally that's definitely what caused it.
