Merged 445nm Pictures and Video Thread

No plastic on the diode side, and no signs of melting anywhere. I examined the diode magnified, and couldn't see anything on the window.

Crap one of my diodes is starting to do that, and I'm using aixiz 405 glass, and have been the whole time... What else could have caused this?

I think your diodes fine that's what mine looks like without a lens.

That's an awesome labby! I like that much better than the old cardboard box :p. I don't think I've posted this yet. GLO9NqE4Jxs

Bump. Added Jerry, and Jayrobs data to the graph.

    List of 445nm diodes

@Jayrob, I see the exact same thing when I compare my 800mw to my 500mw. The 800 not only seems much brighter, but alot bluer. When viewing side by side the 500mw almost looks violet.

    List of 445nm diodes

Hmm that one doesn't seem to be as efficient as some of the other A140 diodes. Still gonna be an awesome laser. I love that kit your putting it in.

    List of 445nm diodes

That's an outrage! We can't wait a couple days :p. Slap it in a random heatsink, and see what it can do! I'm bettin 1100mw+

    My 445 build plan

I'm not familiar with 14500s. If it Strobes when you turn it on you can just turn down the current. I think you could have a slightly longer duty cycle. My 445 set to 875ma can run for about 30, or 40 seconds before you can start to feel any heat.

    Twin 445s from Flaminpyro

Yeah, I was kinda wondering the same thing. I never let any of my lasers get much over 90 degrees just to be careful. Can't wait for winter to come now :p. Longer duty cycles, and MORE POWER! these diodes love to be cold. As for wavelength change I think the colder they are the shorter the...

    Twin 445s from Flaminpyro

I'll try it. My girlfriend got me one of those nifty IR thermometers :D. Although the spot being measured may be to big to get just the diode I should be able to get a reading inside the module. Check back in a 5 minutes for an edit. EDIT: Nope, sorry I let the host get to about 90 degrees but...

I burned a poster across the room (~12ft) while taking a beam shot with my laser focused to infinity. 5Ew7EBUsHeU

    50mw - Ledshoppe or o-like?

If you want a great quality pen laser around 50mw check NOVAlasers Home Green Laser,Laser Beam Optics,Laser Safety Glasses : Dragon Lasers Optotronics Laser Products O-like should be ok. Just not the same level as those companies.

I had a run-in with an "FBI agent" yesterday...

ROFL!!! That's the funniest thing I've seen all day.

lol ^. You should definetly turn him in. Like rpalo said he's probly a child malester...

    Potential Eye Injuries Recovery?

I did a research paper on stem cells last year. It also has the possibility of helping with macular degeneration. That's good considering our new blue lasers can cause that to happen prematurely.

445 Group Buy a140 projector! $35 each! Now shipping Diodes!

Re: 445 Group Buy a140 projector! $35 each! I'm thinkin about getting in on this next GB. I'll let you know for sure in the next few days.

WL safety goggles vs. 780mw 445

There's not that big of a difference, but I'd say the shooting glasses are a little worse. I did have the beam on them longer though to see if any light would make it through.

WL safety goggles vs. 780mw 445

Alright, I just tried it again. This time I used 500mw instead of 780mw, so it wouldn't melt the plastic as fast. The glasses were ~6in away from the sensor this time. I had basically the exact same results. Nothing over 5mw came through with the yellow glasses, and a steady 6-7mw came through...

WL safety goggles vs. 780mw 445

Well it didn't really rise slowly. It was fairly quick. Your argument makes complete sense, BUT if that was true I should have seen the same results with both goggles because the yellow ones were just as close. Another reason why I didn't test them from farther away is because the beam...
