    HELP! Dropped my LPC826 build...

Well, if you can snag a picture of the output, I may be able to tell you for certain.

    HELP! Dropped my LPC826 build...

    The diode probably died :\

Would anyone be willing to give me a couple minutes of help with a circuit?

Best of luck, rhd! I want to see this circuit finished :D

Use a momentary / tactile button, as a latching switch - circuit?

That's as good an explanation as I wanted! The only problem I foresee with devices like this is that they will have to fit in the switch holder, not near the driver because most driver pills are press fit, i.e. have no spare room :\

Use a momentary / tactile button, as a latching switch - circuit?

I'm not sure, but MOSFETs can typically only be in on or off states, whereas BJTs can vary their outputs... so that may play a role.

Use a momentary / tactile button, as a latching switch - circuit?

Really interesting circuit. What's your application for this, rhd? I assume you want a "click-on, click-off" with a tactile feel and can handle high currents?

    CNI 556 handheld feeler

It was certainly a joke. I think it was just miscommunicated.

    $55 515nm 30mW Osram

I might be interested in this. I bought one of the laserbtb pens and it metered at around 520nm :( Made me very sad.

    New 3A Driver, Very Cheap

@rhd: As far as I know, there really isn't a better alternative. All of those types of ICs are going to end up not working at passive speed. So unless you can build in a soft-start to your IC which is slower than the turn-on time (significantly) of the ZXCT, then you'll always have a spike. I...

    New 3A Driver, Very Cheap

Done that before too. However, I have noted that because the ZXCT is not passive speed, so if you don't have enough of a soft-start timer, your regulator will overshoot because the ZXCT hasn't fully turned on yet and give you a nasty current spike. I've seen it in previous versions of the...

Who wants to take this project on; host for 15W IR C-Mount Diode

Fair enough. My only use for a high current driver right now is for a 40W IR bar I have still be having trouble figuring out.

Who wants to take this project on; host for 15W IR C-Mount Diode

I see. My revision is bigger (but can also supply a bit more current). I think I may wait till we see more mainstream diodes that can go above 3A. Otherwise, there is no economy of scale :\

Who wants to take this project on; host for 15W IR C-Mount Diode

What size would people need for a high-power buck? I've a few designs that work, but I just never put them into production because they were too big for handhelds.

Wonderful laser. I am GREEN with envy ;)

Now Completed Optically Corrected P73 HH Design

Re: Optically Corrected P73 HH Design -1W and NO LINE I would just like to point out that there are some conservation laws that are at work in the fat beam of the Mitsu diodes. In particular, I am talking about Liouville's Theorem, which indicates that phase space can never be decreased. That...

So the group buy is ordering from DTR?

So what's the status on the group buy?

    Sound proofing an N2/TEA?

I have been thinking about how I will solve this problem recently too. I ordered my NST a few weeks ago so now I need to figure it out before I move back into the dorm. I was thinking that you could build a foam enclosure and use that? Foam is a pretty strong sound-proofer. That, and I was also...

Dec 2013 news reports about laser toy hazards

He said that it was the limit for 100 seconds. And no, it would not be like looking at a dim LED. For one, our eyes perceive brightness as a square law: 4x more powerful is only twice as bright. Conversely, 150uW is slightly more than a third the brightness of a 1mW laser, which we all know is...

Dec 2013 news reports about laser toy hazards

crazyspaz, that's not necessarily true. We know that 5mW is small enough to not harm your eyes after 0.25 seconds. My guess is that 39uW is the maximum exposure for 100 seconds, which is SIGNIFICANTLY longer than 0.25 seconds. Further, Patrick knows what he is talking about. He's one of the...
